Hotel Preview: Casa San Augustin Cartagena

Casa San Augustin Cartagena

The world has a lot to offer, but only few cities are as interesting as Cartagena. This city is not known to be one of the safest in the world, yet it was named a cultural heritage by UNESCO. In the centre of the old town, guests who are searching for luxury when discovering Colombia, can find the Casa San Augustin, a little boutique hotel.

The hotel has 20 rooms and ten suites. Due to the familiar character of the hotel, breakfast and a welcome drink are included in every room rate. The little dining and breakfast area will definitely make every guest feel like home. So does the style of the hotel which fits perfectly into the scheme of the old town of Cartagena.

No room for little rooms at the Casa San Augustin Caratgena

When it comes to the rooms themselves, guests will be surprised about the fact that all rooms, from the standard one to the suites, are pretty huge. No room does offer less than 38 square meters, so every guest will have enough space to feel comfortable. The big suites got more than a 100 square meters, so there is room for meetings as well.

The interior has a colonial touch. Due to the renovation which happened months ago, every piece of interior is new and of an amazing quality. Moreover, all rooms have big windows, so there is enough light to get a good start into the day. If you do like to invest more money, you should definitely opt for a room category with a terrace or balcony, so you can enjoy the warm sun in Cartagena.

Complimentary breakfast and high-quality dinner

As the Casa San Augustin is a boutique hotel, there is not much choice for having lunch or dinner. The hotel restaurant offers all kinds of meals, which means that guests can enjoy breakfast (complimentary), lunch and dinner there. The quality of the food in the Alma Restaurant should be really good considering several reviews of travellers from around the world.

The style of cooking is inspired by Latin dishes as well as international specialities. Guests will be able to order most of the dishes they love, as the chefs try to make every wish come true. Also, there is 24 hours room service available at Casa San Augustin.

A little pool “next to the wall”

Most hotels that are named a Leading Hotel of the World offer a Spa area or at least a pool. So does the Casa San Augustin, where guests can’t only enjoy the Colombian sun, but moreover have the chance to swim in a pool next to a historic wall.

It may not look like the “style” of a luxury hotel, but the wall gives swimming a very special feeling when being a guest of the Casa San Augustin.

Every day is a good day to visit the Casa San Augustin

The modern luxury and the unique style in the centre of Cartagena has its price. Guests staying at the hotel usually have to pay more than 200 euros a night – a lot of money for a hotel in Colombia. At some dates there are rooms for a bit more than 100 euros available, but these rates have only a small availability. However, the hotel does look very promising, so it may be worth to even invest a little more money to enjoy one of the better categories which offer a balcony or a terrace. All in all, I feel like I can recommend the Casa San Augustin judging from all reviews I’ve been reading so far and the pictures I’ve seen. Colombia, I’ll visit you someday!
