Hotel Preview: Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt Berlin

As you may have already recognized, Berlin is a city with many luxury hotels. Even though the competition in Berlin is very tough, Steigenberger decided to open a second five star hotel in the city. It is located right at the Central Station and is named Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt Berlin.

It’s not been a long time that the Waldorf Astoria (check out our review!) opened in Berlin. Nevertheless, Steigenberger decided to make the competition a little harder. In another district of the city, the well-known German hotel company opened a second five star hotel in the city.

The Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt is located next to the new Central Station of Berlin that was also built just some years ago.

Guests of the new Steigenberger have the chance to visit major landmarks of Berlin, like the “Regierungsviertel”, the “Bundestag” or the “Brandenburger Tor” on foot in just minutes.

Sleek design in a unique location

The luxury hotel in Berlin offers very modern rooms with a sleek design. The rooms look a little Scandinavian judging by the colors and the use of wood. Even though or because the Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt is an expensive hotel by no means, all rooms are pretty big.

Even the Superior Room offers 29 to 35 square meters, Junior Suites got more than 50 square meters. Moreover, there are so-called Deluxe Rooms which are the same as the Superior Room with a better view and a different design.

Guests who want a real luxury experience may also book a Suite (62 to 64 square meters) or a SPA Suite (sized like a suite, but with special features like a huge bathtub and a rooftop terrace).

Breakfast with an ecological touch

Enjoying breakfast at the Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt can be a really special experience. The hotel advertises its breakfast with products from organic farming and coffee as well as tea from fair-trade partners. Whoever is searching for a hotel that is caring about the environment may be right at this luxury hotel in Berlin.

Interestingly, the restaurant of the hotel is closed at daytime, but it can be booked for special occasions. Lunch and dinner are available at the Lobby Bar that is also offering light snacks all day. Moreover, guests may decide to have lunch or dinner in the room. The prices are on a normal level for five star hotels in Berlin.

Small Spa and Fitness Area with a view

Interestingly, the new Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt does not have a pool. Many other luxury hotels in Berlin like the Hotel Palace (check out our review!) has big Spa areas, the Steigenberger goes another way. It offers only a small area for relaxation and some saunas.

Moreover, guests can enjoy Spa treatments like massages. Even though there is no pool, guests can stay fit nevertheless. The huge gym is equipped with state-of-the-art machines and offers a brilliant view over the Governmental Area in Berlin.

You may even be able to catch a view on the Bundestag when running on one of the treadmills.

Cheap luxury at the Steigenberg Hotel Am Kanzleramt Berlin

If you have been reading our hotel reviews about the Waldorf Astoria and the Hotel Palace, you may already know that Berlin is not really an expensive city when it comes to hotels. There are dozens of luxury hotels that vie for guests. Due to that, the prices are pretty low compared to other hotels. The new Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt is available for just 80 Euro (~100 US-Dollar) a night on some dates.
