If you are going to visit Jakarta, you’ll be spoiled for choice. The capital of Indonesia got several luxury hotels that are priced pretty much the same. As it is placed first on Tripadvisor, we decided to give the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta a try. After our stay we can definitely recommend the hotel, as the facilities are just amazing, so are the employees.
Mandarin Oriental is one of the most renowned hotel brands in the world. Not any surprisingly, they also got a hotel in the booming financial district of Jakarta.
While also being one of the most expensive brands in the world, the Jakarta hotel is an exception as it is not much more expensive than most other luxury hotels in Jakarta.
Due to that, I’ll definitely recommend to spend at least one night at the Mandarin Oriental as you’ll have the chance to learn a lot about perfect service on an incredible high level.
What makes the Mandarin Oriental special in my opinion is not only the fact that the hotel does have great and very welcoming staff, but also that the rooms are nothing but amazing. Superior Rooms got 47 square meters, so did the Deluxe Room we were upgraded to.
The interior is modern and is fitting perfectly into the scheme of an Asian luxury brand. The bed is extremely comfortable, the bathroom is extremely luxurious and is equipped with every amenity you may think of.
When you arrive at the Mandarin Oriental, you should not decline to enjoy the welcome drink. It was extremely refreshing and utterly amazing when we arrived.
Anyway, there is also a point that is not that positive about the rooms. Even though we got a room on the quiet site and on a high floor, we were a little annoyed by the noise caused by cars. That means that the windows are not really good. For everyone who got a light sleep, the Mandarin Oriental may not be the perfect choice.
For everyone else, the rooms at the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta are just fantastic.
But the room is not the only good thing about the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta. Also, the breakfast buffet is a real highlight. The range of choices from Asian to European delights is incredible. The taste is just fantastic. So far, the breakfast buffet was the biggest I’ve seen in Asia – including eggs cooked by order, a huge choice of fresh juices and around a hundred dishes to choose from.
The service, moreover, was very efficient. The tables were cleaned in seconds, drinks and other orders were served very fast as well. Even though nobody was utterly friendly, everybody was kind and helpful.
When staying at the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, you should not forget about dipping into the pool or working out in the gym. The latter is huge and offers everything from free weights to machines. Apples, towels, headphones and water are complimentary. If you need help, one of the employees is there for you to explain you the machines.
If you are looking for a more enjoyable time, the pool may be the better place for you. In my opinion, there are way better pools in other luxury hotels. The one at the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta is a little odd due to its shape – swimming is a little tough due to that.
Also, I was a little annoyed by the noise of the streets you could clearly hear when trying to relax on one of the loungers poolside. Nevertheless, the pool and the gym are very nice, so is the pool bar and the choice of massages and other treatments offered for purchase.
I can surely recommend the Mandarin Oriental for everybody on a business trip. The location in the heart of the financial district makes accessing all important business facilities easy. The high level of service and the amazing facilities round off a stay at the Mandarin Oriental.
When it comes to a city trip or any other holiday, I’m sure you’ll also enjoy your time at the Mandarin Oriental. Anyway, there are places that are a little more calm and relaxing than the lively Mandarin Oriental Jakarta. All in all, I’d definitely come back – and be it just for enjoying the amazing breakfast and service once again.
