The first part of our “Best in … 2014!” series features breakfast! For us, a good breakfast is essential for a good start into the day. That’s why we had breakfast at dozens of hotels this year. The choice for the best ones was an easy one nevertheless!
1. Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol, Jochberg in Austria
Just perfect. That’s what we have to say about the breakfast at the Kempinksi Hotel Das Tirol. Starting with a glass of champagne, ending with eggs cooked by order, there was nothing we could have wished for more. The choice at the buffet is rich, there is even an Asian corner for international guests. The quality of the food was close to perfect, the seating extremly comfortable and cozy at the same time. All this mixed with a very good service made the breakfast at the Kempinksi Hotel Das Tirol the best one in 2014.

2. The Dolder Grand, Zurich in Switzerland
You are searching for a unique breakfast experience? At the Dolder Grand in Zurich, you’ll definitely get one. Breakfast is served à la carte, something that is really special in luxury hotels nowadays. Even though à la carte breakfast means higher prices, the freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee “flat rate” makes the breakfast one of the best we had this year. Whatever you choose, you’ll like the quality of the food. Everything is prepared just for you. Be it a white of egg omelet or a traditional Swiss Bircher Muesli.

3. Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta in Indonesia
Usually, we are no lovers of Asian breakfast. But what the Mandarin Oriental in Jakarta has to offer is just great. The buffet at the Mandarin Oriental was the bgigest we’ve seen in this year. There were several different areas where delights from all parts of the world were being served. There were more than ten hot Asian dishes, several European delights and eggs cooked by order. With a fast and friendly service, a choice of a dozen freshly squeezed juices and a nice atmosphere, the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta secured its spot in our top 3!
