Hotel Preview: The Mark Prague

Prague is one of the cheaper cities to visit, even if you are in love with luxury hotels. Even though many five star properties are available for rates starting below 100 Euro a night, there are some exceptions. The Mark Prague is one of these as the hotel usually doubles the rates of the cheapest luxury hotels in the city. Is it worth staying at The Mark anyway?

Nestled in a baroque palace, The Mark in Prague is a really unique hotel. The modern interpretation makes staying at The Mark absolutely unique as modern elements meet historic interior. But that’s not the only great thing about the luxury hotel in Prague as The Mark is also known for its great location. While being located in a really quiet area, all major touristic destinations are in walking distance.

With a walk of maximal ten minutes, guests of The Mark can reach the central station, the Astronomical Clock or the Charles Bridge. A good traffic connection also makes it easy to get to any other point in the city either by car or by public transport.

Modern interior and great design

The Mark is definitely not the cheapest place we feature in our hotel preview series. Especially considering that Prague is not a really expensive city when it comes to hotels, The Mark must be really special to satisfy its guests.

Judging by the rooms, this will definitely work! Even the Superior Room (the lowest room category) got 28 square meters and a big and modern bathroom.

The Grand Deluxe Room with 43 square meters in total does even look like a suite with a separated living room and a luxurious bathroom.

The suites at The Mark are even more spacious and partly offer amazing views over the rooftops of the city.

Bohemian cuisine at The Mark Prague

Even though modern elements play an important role in the design concept of The Mark in Prague, the old Bohemian style does as well. In the main restaurant of the hotel, called “Le Grill”, guests may enjoy an amazing lunch or dinner in a contemporary atmosphere.

The restaurant is known for preparing unique Bohemian dishes that are renowned for their quality and taste. Guests may also enjoy a lunch or a dinner in the more leger atmosphere of the Winter Garden or the Terrace.

Especially in summer only few things are as enjoyable as eating great food beneath the stars. After dinner, the “Two Steps Bar” invites guests to sip in a cocktail or have a good glass of wine. Moreover, the culinary experience at the hotel will be expanded soon with the “Felix Bar” opening in summer 2015.

Basic facilities and a great partnership

Many luxury hotels in Prague don’t offer any spa facilities. The Mark instead does have a great partnership with the World Class Health Academy that is located nearby the hotel. Guests of The Mark are invited to use the facilities of the gym as well as the pool and leisure facilities like a sauna or a steam bath.

For more privacy, The Mark also offers a basic gym in the basement of the hotel itself. A personal trainer may be booked at either one of the two facilities.

A hefty price tag for Prague

The basic rate of 169 Euro a night for a five star luxury property may not sound too crazy, but it is a hefty price tag for Prague where many luxury hotels are priced under 100 Euro a night.

Also, the published rate is excluding breakfast and is only valid for the Superior Room. Rates for the larger Grand Deluxe Room start at 239 Euro. A lot of money for a great hotel in the heart of the Old Town of Prague. If you like the facilities with the fusion of traditional and modern details, you’ll love The Mark so much that you won’t mind to pay a little more than for other five star hotels in Prague!

  1. I think Prague is one of my favourite cities in the world! I went there with my family when I was a teenager. Now that I know that accommodation there is usually cheap, that’s another reason I can add to my list of reasons for wanting to go back!

    • Prague is absolutely great! I love the historic city center and the whole feeling. The prizes for accomodation are really fair, so be sure to come back some day!
