Hotel Preview: The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites Brisbane

Five stars and perfect hotel reviews on Tripadvisor: The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites Brisbane is one of the most interesting openings that Australia has seen in some time. Nowadays part of the MGallery Collection by Accor, the hotel stands for highest standards in luxury and design. Even though the design unquestionably is great, the rooms are a little small.

The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites in Brisbane does not only have the term “new” in its name, the hotel also is one of the recent openings in Brisbane. The city with two million inhabitants is rarely known for its luxurious boutique hotels, yet there are already some awesome luxury properties.

Anyway, Accor decided to reopen the Inchcolm Hotel and make it a location for boutique luxury with a French touch. A sophisticated restaurant and a great location in the heart of Brisbane complement the hotels benefits.

Great design and contemporary colors

What makes The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites such an interesting opening is the fact that the design is highly unique. Even though being part of the Accor brand, every room is individually appointed. The boutique character can also be seen in the little lobby which doesn’t make you think that you are staying in a luxury hotel.

The design of every single room and the selection of shades of brown and grey make staying at The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites a really special experience. The colorful accents make every room very homely. Yet, the size may be a matter for demanding guests.

With only 19 square meters (200 square feet), the lowest category does disappoint a little bit. But even travelers that are opting for a suite may be disappointed as some of those only offer 34 square meters (370 square feet) of space. Real boutique character.

Share-style restaurant in a classy atmosphere

A boutique hotel like The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites in Brisbane does not necessarily need more than one restaurant. The tiny Thompson’s Reserve Restaurant in the newest Accor property in Brisbane is opened seven days a week and offers a new concept of dining. With many share-style options and many small dishes, the restaurant takes on new paths. Guests of the hotel may also enjoy breakfast in the modern restaurant that is a little dark which makes the atmosphere very intimate.

If small dishes and share-style options are still too big, Socialites, the hotel’s bar, offers a huge choice of nuts and other really small snacks that come with a good cocktail or a beer. Last but not least, it’s worth a mention that The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites also offers 24 hours room service for guests who love to stay in the private atmosphere of their room.

Boutique character and a homely atmosphere

Usually, at this point of a hotel preview, I feature the spa and recreation areas. As a true boutique hotel, The New Inchcolm does neither have a spa nor a swimming pool. Yet, there is a modern gym that invites guests to work out. If you need recreation, you may spend some time in the stylish and homely lobby or the named Socialites bar that is opened throughout the day.

Moreover, the New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites is located in a perfect part of Brisbane and the reception will be happy to help you with a recommendation for sightseeing, eating out or anything else. In all senses, the newest member of the MGallery Collection in Australia is a classy boutique hotel.

A hefty price tag for small rooms

Brisbane is by no means a cheap city for hotel stays. Rates for five star hotels usually start at around 200 AUD (~ 140 Euro / 155 US-Dollar) a night. At the New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites, even the smallest room is rarely available for less than 249 AUD (~ 170 Euro / 195 US-Dollar). Yet, pretty much all rates at The New Inchcolm are including breakfast and internet.

There are also Duplex Suites in the new MGallery hotel (Image Source: The New Inchcolm Hotel and Suites / mgallery.com)

Suites are available starting from 400 AUD (~ 275 Euro / 315 US-Dollar) a night. Even though the newest member of the MGallery Collection looks like a really promising hotel, it will have a tough time gaining its market, sharing it with other Accor hotels like the Sofitel or the Pullman, but also other known chains like Hilton or Marriott already being known for offering an excellent luxury experience in Brisbane.
