Hotel Review: Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva

When traveling to Geneva, we decided to stay at the Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva. Due to its location approximate to the airport, we were at the perfect spot for an early departure on the next morning. Even though being an airport hotel, the connection to the city is very good. The rooms got refurnished lately and the gym is absolutely amazing. A good choice for a stay in Geneva.

Geneva is one of the most expensive cities in Europe when it comes to luxury hotels. Luckily, the Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva is an exception.

  • Classification: Five Star
  • Room Category: Classic Room
  • Month of Stay: November

Due to its location some kilometers away from the city center, the prices for a night are just fine for what is offered.

Not very promising from the outside, but very good in the inside

Even though being cheaper than most other five star hotels in Geneva, there is no need to worry. We found many positive things to report about in this hotel review.

Modern rooms at the Mövenpick Hotel Geneva

As we just spent a short night at the Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva, we booked a Classic Room.

Big and comfortable bed

Big and comfortable bed

The rooms are a little small with just 22 square meters. Yet, the design was very nice. The rooms got refurnished lately, so there were no scuffs and the carpet looked very clean. Moreover, there were amenities like a flat screen television and coffee and tea making facilities.

Wireless Internet is also included in all room rates. The lighting in the room is very good, so you don’t feel cramped even when travelling as a couple. The bathroom is a little small with just one sink and neither a seduced toilet nor a seduced shower.

Yet, the bathroom is really modern as well. It’s also worth a mention in this hotel review that the room was exceptionally clean.

Enjoying a room service with a personal touch

In the evening of our arrival, we decided to not leave the hotel for dinner (there are very few restaurants nearby due to the “bad” location).

Instead, we opted for room service. Prices are relatively high, but that’s nothing special in Switzerland.

Tasty hamburg with fries

The Hamburger we ordered came with fries and coleslaw. The garnishing was lovely and special (not like at many other luxury hotels). Another nice touch were the two little bars of chocolate that came with the Burger. The taste of the burger was very good and even the fries were satisfying.

Coffee and tea making facilities

All in all, food at the Mövenpick Hotel Geneva definitely is recommendable. Usually, we also talk about the breakfast in this part of a hotel review, but sadly, we had no chance to try the breakfast buffet this time due to our early departure to Copenhagen.

Great gym at the Mövenpick Hotel Geneva

Even though the Mövenpick Hotel Geneva does not have a spa area, we found a good way to spend our evening active. The gym of the hotel is absolutely recommendable.

Huge choice of free weights

Even though it was pretty busy in the evening hours, the area was large enough to not feel cramped. The gym of the Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva offers many machines and also a good choice of free weights. It’s even more recommendable during day time as you can enjoy a nice view on the airport and the tarmac.

If you are looking for another way to spend the evening at the hotel: They also have a casino that is located in the same complex.

Pleasant stay in an average location

All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Mövenpick Hotel Geneva due to the modern rooms, the nice gym and the good food. However, we were not really happy about the location. You need a shuttle to get to the airport (when we arrived, it took more than 30 minutes for the shuttle to arrive) and the nearby tram station is not really approximate as well (a good five minute walk).

The tram to the city center does not take long and is included in the room rate (you get a free transportation card when checking in), but overall, you need at least 30 minutes to reach the city center. The rates for the Mövenpick Hotel are way lower than the rates for hotels located in the city center, so the Mövenpick definitely is also a good choice if you want to save some money while still being pampered in a luxurious way.

    • It’s indeed quite comfortable and the location is not too much of a downer. Especially considering the generally high prices in Geneva, it’s a great choice!
