City Culture: Zurich

Zurich is one of the cities which facilitates cultural activities such as museums and galleries, concerts and theaters. Moreover, the offering of culture in Zurich is very rich. Over 50 museums and more than 100 galleries, a municipal theater and the Opera House where performances take place regularly – culture is of huge importance in Zurich.

As I mentioned before, Zurich houses more than 50 museums, which makes it pretty much impossible to list them all in one post.

Basically, the Opera House and the Concert Hall Orchestra are the stage for musical events.

In Zurich, there can be found like everything: E-music as well as Jazz, Rock and Pop. If you check out the dates for events, I’m sure you’ll find anything that fits you even when you are staying in the city just for a few days!

Morever, each and every day there is at least one performance in the municipal theater, called Schauspielhaus Zürich. The same piece is shown over a period of time, so be sure to visit just once.

Another thing you have to be aware of is the fact that the performances are shown in German, as Zurich is in the German speaking part of Switzerland. Rare performance are without an entrance fee, but that’s not the rule. I guess it’s best to reserve some tickets only when you’re interested in a show!
