Hotel Review: Hilton Gdansk
When you are traveling to Gdansk, you won’t have a great choice of different luxury hotels. However, this is not a problem as the Hilton Gdansk, known as the best hotel in the city, offers an amazing luxury experience. Large rooms with an amazing view, a nice Spa area and a good gastronomy. There is not much more you could wish for.
Gdansk is a beautiful city in many regards. One thing definitely is the friendliness of the people. You’ll feel this one at the Hilton Gdansk as well as the service and the friendliness of the staff is very good even when the hotel is booked pretty well.
- Classification: Five Star
- Room Category: Deluxe Room
- Month of Stay: January
But that’s not all, also the facilities of the hotel are fully satisfying.
The good location, the large rooms and the spa of the hotel make it the perfect hotel for a stay in Gdansk.

Nice décor at the Hilton Gdansk
When we stayed at the Hilton Gdansk, we were lucky enough to get upgraded to a Deluxe Room. These are facing the Motlawa and are flooded with light due to the large windows.
The view is not everything we liked in the room as also the décor was very modern and homely. The choice of colors is worth a mention in this hotel review as both of us were of the opinion that the design may have been the nicest we’ve seen in some time.
The bathroom was pretty basic, but at least offered a detached shower and was very modern as well. Amenities in the room included coffee and tea making facilities, a large flat screen and several comfortable chairs. All in all, the Deluxe Room at the Hilton Gdansk fully satisfied us.
Slightly worse than the room at the Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi, but one of the best we ever had at a Hilton property anyway!
Cozy little Spa with pool, sauna and steam bath
Another positive aspect that was very important for our choice of the Hilton Gdansk was the Spa area located on the rooftop. There is a large terrace that is also used as a beach (with real sand) in summer.
Sadly, we were not able to test this one for our hotel review. But even in winter the Spa was a real joy. Some of the loungers (there are only very few in total) offer nice views of the Motlawa, others face the pool. The pool of the Hilton Gdansk is a little cold, but great for labs anyway.
There just shouldn’t be too many people as the pool is a little small in width. In the Spa area, there are also a small sauna and a small steam bath that may be used free of charge. Both have a good temperature. The gym of the Hilton Gdansk is located one level below the Spa and got views of the inner courtyard what is a little strange as you can watch people passing by (and they can watch you working out).
The gym itself is a little small, but sufficient for a short workout.
Excellent breakfast and expensive food
The breakfast at the Hilton Gdansk definitely is worth praising in the hotel review. We were surprised how good the breakfast was compared to other Hilton properties.
The buffet was large and offered everything you may look for including fresh fish and some regional delights. Eggs and other hot dishes were served by order free of charge.
The only downer was the fact that breakfast wasn’t serve in the bright restaurant, but in a dark conference room instead due to construction works. The restaurant of the Hilton Gdansk is very good. It is located right at the Motlawa and offers very nice views. The food in the bar and the restaurant is way too expensive though.
The prices are pretty similar to the ones in most luxury hotels in cities like London, Munich or Helsinki. The quality and the taste of the Caesar Salad I tried as a light snack was very good though.
Great overall experience at the Hilton Gdansk
There are only few hotel reviews we end with an enthusiastic conclusion, but the Hilton Gdansk definitely deserves some praise. When we stayed at the property, there were only three little upsets. One were guests that were behaving like they are staying in a youth hostel, the others were the mentioned relatively high prices for Gdansk and the serving of the breakfast in a conference area.
However, it’s great that they keep an eye on renovations even though the Hilton Gdansk opened just a few years ago. All in all, we’d definitely recommend to stay at the Hilton Gdansk when you travel to the beautiful Polish city. The rooms are great, the staff is enormously helpful, the location of the hotel is one of the best ones in the city and the food offered is of the highest quality.
