Lounge Review: Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge Abu Dhabi (T1)

Flying with Etihad Airways in Business Class or being a frequent flyer of the airline has an important advantage: Lounge Access. That feature is especially great at the hub of Etihad Airways, the Abu Dhabi International Airport. Enjoying one of the Premium Lounges, located in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, is absolutely amazing. Our lounge review of the lounge Terminal 1 tells you why!

Usually, lounges are a spot to just spend some minutes prior departure or maybe grab a little snack. There are only few lounges in the world that are worth taking some extra time to enjoy.

One of those is the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge in Terminal 1. Located just a few minutes walk away from the busy departure terminal, the lounge is a real oasis.

It’s the perfect spot for working, eating or just relaxing for some minutes.

Buffet in the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge

We have breakfast in one or another lounge from time to time. We also enjoy breakfast at luxury hotels pretty often. Why do I need to mention that in a lounge review?

Choice of joghurts and fruits

Because the breakfast buffet at the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge was better than many buffets we enjoyed at hotels so far. Absolutely surprising for us, the buffet offered everything you may dream of.

Fresh salmon, several different fresh fruits, hot dishes like eggs or sausages and freshly squeezed juices. Quality and taste of everything was great. However, the lounge was very busy in the morning which made getting food a little uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, the service staff cleared used plates very efficiently and did a really good job.

Seating in the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge

The Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge in Terminal 1 is a little smaller than the one in Terminal 3 (we are going to release a lounge review about that one soon).

However, there is enough space even in the busy morning hours. You may enjoy a seat in one of the armchairs or on another table. The latter ones are designated to those who love enjoying some food, while the former are mainly for relaxation.

The lounge got different rooms that make you feel comfortable due to more privacy than in other lounges around the world. Be sure to have a look around before you sit down as there are several different armchairs and seating arrangements throughout the lounge. All are pretty new and in a good condition, so you’ll definitely find a comfortable seat!

Entertainment in the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge

When we visited the Etihad Airways Premium Lounge at Terminal 1, we did not have much time to enjoy the entertainment. Our connection time in Abu Dhabi was pretty short, so we decided to just try the food for the lounge review (we also had breakfast on board our plane beforehand) and took a shower.

The entertainment looked very promising anyway. There is a working area with computers that may also be used to just surf the internet. Moreover, there is a choice of international newspapers. Also, television showing the latest news are spread around the lounge. You surely won’t get bored in the Etihad Business Class Lounge.

Bonus features of the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge

That may already sound good to you, but our lounge review of the Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge is getting even better. Even though this is not the First Class Lounge, Etihad offers free massages for guests of the lounge.

15 minutes are free. If you want to enjoy a longer massage, you may book an appointment when arriving at the lounge. We enjoyed a massage at the other Etihad lounge and loved it, so we are sure it’s amazing in the Premium Lounge in Terminal 1 as well.

Another feature that’s worth a mention are the large and luxurious showers that are equipped with high-quality amenities. Each and every one is cleaned thoroughly after use. So far, the best in-lounge showers we were able to ever enjoy!

Bottom line Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge

Our lounge reviews usually don’t recommend staying in a lounge longer than you have to. The Etihad Airways Business Class Lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport, however, is an exception. We did not have much time to enjoy the facilities in Terminal 1, but we loved each and every minute.

Be it for changing the airplane or actually departing from Abu Dhabi, you should plan some extra time at the airport if you got lounge access. The lounge was absolutely great in pretty much every regard. The only little downer was the fact that the lounge was pretty crowded in the morning, but the staff does its best to make you feel comfortable nevertheless.

Curious what the world of lounges has to offer in comparison?
