Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront was our choice when we visited Vienna in February. Looking back, the choice was a very good one even though the location of the hotel is not the best. However, the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront has large rooms, a nice little Spa and offers great views of the Danube. Last but not least, the good breakfast with its real five star quality is worth a mention.
Vienna is generally a city that’s quite expensive. When we planned our trip, we decided to give the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront a try as we liked the pictures of the hotel and the decent value for the money offered at the property.
However, it is worth a mention that the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront, even though located right next to the Danube, does not have a prime location.
The inner city and most touristic sights are located a few kilometers away. The next bus stop and train station is a five minute walk away.
Anyway, we did not regret booking the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront.
When we checked-in, we were assigned a pretty nice room on the 7th floor which offered beautiful views of the Danube.
The Executive Rooms at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront are very spacious and may be booked with either two Queen Beds or one King Bed. Apart from the great views, we also liked the modern interior at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront.
Our room did not only have two large beds, but also a working desk and a very comfortable couch. In contrast, the bathroom was quite disappointing. Small in size with only one sink, no detached toilet, a shower which is included in the bathtub and worst of all a shower curtain.
Another positive point to mention is the welcome treatment we were offered as HHonors Gold Members.
It consisted of two apples, two chocolates and two bottles of water – a nice little gesture of the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront!
We did not choose to stay at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront due to its Spa, but it was quite nice as well. Located on the second highest floor of the hotel, the Spa offered some nice views of the Danube.
The atmosphere at the Spa was not a great one, but I’ve seen worse. Even though the area is very small, there are a whirlpool, a sauna and some loungers provided.
The Spa of the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront definitely is no high quality Spa, but okay for a city hotel nevertheless. In addition, the gym of the hotel is very good.
Not the biggest in size, but with a nice choice of different machines for strength and cardio training, the gym of the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront satisfied me.
When planning a stay at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront, you may opt for an Executive Room just because of the lounge.
Located on top of the hotel, the lounge does not offer many comfortable seating arrangements, but also great views of the Danube. We only had a look at the buffet of the lounge on the afternoon, but the offer was already great at this time.
Several different cakes, a wide range of cookies and other sweets, fruits and cold and warm drinks. The quality of the food was very good, too. So, if you got the chance, be sure to pay the lounge a visit!
In the past, we had some better and some worse experiences with breakfast at Hilton properties. The breakfast of the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront was one of the better ones as both the service and the food were satisfying.
We were welcomed very friendly and got a nice table with partly views (the restaurant for breakfast is located in the basement) of the Danube. We were a little surprised that egg dishes are served by order free of charge – something that’s rare at Hilton properties.
The buffet at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront was quite decent as well. Fresh fruits, some hot dishes and a wide range of yogurts, rolls and other items satisfied us.
However, the great service made us really enjoy our breakfast. Never before have we been asked if we’d like something else for more than three times at a Hilton property. Just amazing!
In conclusion, we liked our stay at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront. The location of the hotel may not be the best for sightseeing, but you can reach the inner city in a few minutes with public transportation. The spacious rooms with modern interior and great views, the good Executive Lounge and the surprisingly good breakfast made our stay very enjoyable.
Only the bathroom and the location were little downers, but these wouldn’t make us deny coming back to the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront – especially when the staff keeps doing such a good job!

Great review! I’ll keep the hotel in mind when traveling to Vienna by the end of the year!
Thanks a lot! It has a great value for the money. So if you don’t want to stay in the city center, it is definitely a great choice 🙂
