Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the main hub of KLM. Whoever wants to fly with KLM a long-haul flight will have a stop to interchange in Amsterdam. Whether it is to have some time between two flights or a real city trip to Amsterdam, the following are the top things to do and see in Amsterdam!
Arriving in Amsterdam usually means arriving at the Central Station.
Which is a great spot to start the tour and to get a first impression of the architecture! Despite the fact that there is a big street right in front when leaving the building, indulging in one of the smaller streets will show you soon how architecture really is.
Amsterdam is most famous for its Grachten.
In Amsterdam, you will be able to see those in and from each and every corner of the city. Some bars and restaurants secured real prime locations right on or next to Amsterdam’s Grachten.
Everyone has heard about the very moving story about Anne Frank. As she hide or was hidden in Amsterdam, the house turned into a real attraction for everyone who is interested in history.
Even though I can imagine how interesting this is, it has also a downside: As most people want to get in the Anne Frank Huis, it is nothing unusual that there is a very long queue in front of the house.
Amsterdam has another well-known attraction: Madame Tussauds. For everyone who hasn’t already been in the wax figure cabinet, it is time to take the chance!
In Amsterdam, the Cheese Museum is a real gem! Gouda, Mozzarella, Emmentaler sounds like music in your ears? For every cheeselover, this museum is the absolute perfect place.
Entrance is free. Downstairs, almost in the cellar, interesting information about cheese can be found. The illustrations are just gorgeous! Going upstairs again, there is a huge choice for testing little cute pieces of cheese and, of course, to buy some to eat and as a memory!

The cheese museum sounds delish! 😋
It was the most positive surprise we had in a city so far. If you ever get the chance, don’t miss it! Oh, and we also had a special – a whole article – about the museum if you’re interested 🙂

I found the Anne Frank museum so emotional, I loved it! I would also recommend the Van Gogh museum if you like art, it’s worth the money.
Loved the article, thank you!
