Hotel Preview: Four Seasons Johannesburg

Four Seasons Johannesburg – the name of the newest luxury resort in Johannesburg absolutely hits the spot. Four Seasons Johannesburg is the successor of the renowned The Westcliff Hotel. Having this tradition, Four Seasons Johannesburg got it all: Luxurious rooms, an amazing Spa and great dining options.
An iconic reborn is how Four Seasons Johannesburg advertises itself on its website. The recently opened luxury hotel in Johannesburg has a long tradition, being named The Westcliff for decades. Four Seasons Johannesburg nowadays is a chic urban resort which combines holidays with business at best.
Shaped as a little hillside village with a lot of green, guests won’t note anything of the buzz of the city. With just 117 guests rooms and suites, but five venues for drinks and food and two pools, guests will enjoy every minute at the Four Seasons Johannesburg.
Homely design at Four Seasons Johannesburg
Being reopened after an extensive renovation, Four Seasons Johannesburg is a very special place for all those who love modernity and luxury.
All seven room types have been completely renovated and refurbished. Even the lowest room category, a Superior Room, comes with 26 to 33 square meters (280 to 355 square feet) and a full marble bathroom.
Great views, large flat screen televisions and daily housekeeping (twice) are just some amenities included in all rooms.
Starting with the Deluxe Room, there is also a terrace or balcony available to enjoy the South African sun even more.
For more space and comfort, there is also a wide range of suites available!
Five modern restaurants, bars and lounges
The Westcliff had a long tradition of amazing dining experiences in Johannesburg. At the new Four Seasons Johannesburg, this tradition is commenced with a choice of three restaurants, two snack bars and a bar and lounge which are also offering a wider range of food.
The smart casual restaurant “View” offers not only – as the name suggests – great views, but also brilliant contemporary cuisine.
“Flame” instead has a slight focus on grilled dishes including regional and seasonal delights. Last but not least, there is “Cellar Door”, a private dining venue for up to 20 people.
If you just want to grab a little snack, you may either pay “Westcliff Deli”, the “Après-Spa” or the “Bar and Lounge” a visit. All offer little dishes and snacks with unique taste.
Lush gardens, swimming pools and more
Four Seasons Johannesburg wouldn’t be a Four Seasons resort if it didn’t offer stunning relaxation facilities.
The Spa facilities include two swimming pools, one for families and one for labs. Moreover, there are eight treatment rooms and an additional Deluxe Spa Suite for a unique treatment together with your partner.
There’s also a fitness center, but more important, guests of Four Seasons Johannesburg may enjoy walking or running on 7.7 acres.
Save and convenient jogging routes are rare in Johannesburg, making this feature a very special one.
Expensive luxury at Four Seasons Johannesburg
After the reopening under new name, the prices of The Westcliff went up quite a bit. This means that Four Seasons Johannesburg is anything but a cheap option for a stay in Johannesburg.
Rates are starting at 3.500 ZAR (~ 260 Euro / 290 US-Dollar) for the Superior Room. However, this rate comes without breakfast and other included amenities. For a rate with breakfast, prices start at 5.300 ZAR (~ 390 Euro / 435 US-Dollar) per night.
Be aware that these rates are only available in low seasons with prices being even higher in the South African summer. However, judging from the pictures, Four Seasons Johannesburg will definitely take your breath away even though it is very pricey!

I visited when it was still the westcliff. It was gorgeous. I can’t wait to go back there to see the changes.

It must have an amazing experience, which may only be topped by the new Westcliff. Pretty much all hotels get at least a little bit better when being under the Four Seasons brand. I hope you’ll have the chance to stay there soon 🙂
