The Greenwich New York was a hotel we were looking forward to staying at as much as we did for the recently opened The Knickerbocker New York. In the aftermath, we didn’t regret it at all as The Greenwich New York is undoubtedly a very special luxury hotel. With rustic interior, an incredible in-house Spa with a lovely pool and a one-of-a-kind breakfast, The Greenwich totally hits the spot.

After all the modernity at The Knickerbocker, The Greenwich New York felt like another world.
When entering the hotel, you instantly see that coziness is the key element at The Greenwich. The public areas are designed in dark colors with a traditional and rustic touch.
Even though we instantly liked The Greenwich New York, we were not totally happy with our treatment at Check-In.
The employee was kind of distanced and not very welcoming.
However, after leaving our baggage and checking out the area, we were greeted by another employee who was extremely warm and friendly.
Something you wouldn’t expect in a luxury hotel in New York City is the rustic charm of a Swiss chalet.
Anyhow, our room at The Greenwich New York looked exactly like you’d expect a traditional room in the Alps. Our Superior Greenwich Room had views of the inner courtyard which were quite unspectacular.
However, the room itself was designed very homely while being a little small.
The wooden walls and the traditional interior that surrounded the King Bed made our room at The Greenwich New York somehow special.
This combined with the wooden floor made us feel very comfortable in the room. Another lovely touch is the possibility to open the windows to enjoy something like a French Balcony.
Who would expect anything like this in New York City?
Even though fitting the style of the room very good, the bathroom at The Greenwich New York was a little disappointment.
In the Superior Greenwich Room, it consists of just a single sink, a walk-in shower and a partly detached toilet.
The toiletries were of very good quality and the shower was great, too. However, I felt kind of cramped in the bathroom.
A real surprise at The Greenwich New York was the included minibar and snack basket.
It’s not the included water and soft drinks, but the snack basket that’s absolutely amazing. It had pretty much all sweets and savory snacks you may dream of.
This combined with the little chocolate bars that may be found in the room was an amazing touch we’d love to see at every luxury hotel.
Getting back to the lovely check-in employee: When he showed us the room, he encouraged us to pack everything we are not able to eat during our stay as they are filling the baskets on a daily basis anyhow.
The Greenwich New York is not only known to be built under the patronage of Robert De Niro, it’s also known for its incredible in-house Spa located in the basement.
While we decided against treatments which are way overpriced in our opinion, we enjoyed the complimentary facilities to the utmost.
Although I preferred the gym of The Knickerbocker, the one of The Greenwich New York was very good as well.
It had it all, free weights, modern machines and complimentary water and apples, but missed a special touch as well as daylight.
Even though not having daylight either, the pool area at The Greenwich New York is a true must-visit when staying at the luxury hotel.
The atmosphere is extremely cozy and relaxing. Even though there are just a few loungers, we did never have a problem finding a place to relax.
Some complimentary snacks are available next to the pool, where also an employee is available for answering all questions as well as cleaning up the area after someone dipped into the pool.
You can expect that the pool area at The Greenwich New York was spotlessly clean all the time.
Inside the changing rooms, which are a Spa paradise themselves, there’s also a steam shower with quite amazing effects available.
The Greenwich New York is not only known for its atmosphere and amazing Spa area, but also for offering outstanding food.
Even though we didn’t try the hotel’s restaurant in the evening, we decided to at least enjoy breakfast. The great experience started with sitting in the living room style bar which is exclusively for hotel guests.
Sitting right next to the fireplace on a cloudy morning in March is something utterly amazing, but may be topped by a great waiter who was extremely helpful when we were ordering.
As you’d expect, there is no buffet at The Greenwich New York, but rather à la carte breakfast. We opted for continental breakfast and didn’t regret that choice once. Served with a large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee, we were surprised with a choice of several different sweet morning treats including muffins, donuts and much more.
While we usually don’t like sweet food in the morning that much, the continental breakfast at The Greenwich New York made us totally change our mind. All items were so tasty and fluffy that we absolutely fell in love with that style of breakfast, especially when served in such a cozy atmosphere.
If you are searching for a hotel for a city trip to New York or for a relaxed retreat after a long day of work, you are at the right spot at The Greenwich New York.
While not being located next to Central Park, the location is amazing when you have stuff to do at the One World Trade Center. However, The Greenwich New York is an amazing choice for pretty much everyone staying in New York City.
We personally did never experience a hotel like The Greenwich New York in a metropolis ever before. The Greenwich may not be everyone’s first choice, but it’s a very special hotel with an incredible relaxing and decelerating atmosphere!

Wow.. this hotel looks rustic yet modern in some ways. Pretty unique experience for New York, i guess..
Indeed, New York is not really “heaven” when it comes to luxury hotels, but The Greenwich is an amazing exception!
