Hilton Budapest City is one of two Hilton hotels in the capital of Hungary. Located inside a shopping center, guests of Hilton Budapest City can benefit from hundreds of shopping and dining options nearby. Even though the city center and most sightseeing spots are located further away, we enjoyed our stay at Hilton Budapest City as the hotel got decent rooms and a great Executive Lounge!

Arriving in Budapest after a long haul flight and with a lost trolley wasn’t the most enjoyable part of our trip.
However, after arriving at Hilton Budapest City our mood got slightly better. The welcome was very friendly and efficient at the same time. We were upgraded to an Executive Room and were granted early check-in.
This meant that we were also able to access the Executive Lounge which is located on the highest floor and offers nice views of Budapest.
As we entered the room, we also found a lovely little welcome treatment with macaroons and two little bottles of wine. Such a lovely touch.
Hilton Budapest City got several different room types. We were happy about being assigned an Executive Room.
With 30 square meters (322 square feet), the room was not really large but had all we needed: A large King Bed, a flat-screen television, a lounging chair and a working desk.
The design is frumpy and did not really hit our taste. Even though there are some scuffs, the condition of the room was quite good considering that it must be several years old.
The view was nothing to write home about, while the bathroom surprised us with a detached shower – something we are rarely used to from other Hilton properties.
Even though this is a nice feature, the bathroom of the Executive Room we were assigned at Hilton Budapest City was on the small side with just a single sink and not much space to turn around.
Regardless of what room category you book at Hilton Budapest City, you get complimentary access to the fitness and relaxation area.
The latter consists of a sauna and some loungers solely, but is a nice touch after a long working day.
The gym in contrast is quite large and perfect for both, strength and cardio training. There are several free weights as well as facilities for bench pressing available at the gym of Hilton Budapest City.
Another fact worth mentioning are the large windows which make the gym very bright at day. From the cardio machines you may also enjoy nice views of Budapest.
With our upgrade to an Executive Room, we had the pleasure to enjoy the Executive Lounge of Hilton Budapest City.
It is a small, but fairly nice lounge with large windows and even an outdoor area.
There are several different seating opportunities for dining, lounging or working.
There’s also a computer with complimentary internet. The food spread consists of chips and nuts all day as well as larger selections in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening.
We had a look at the cake selection in the afternoon which was a little limited, but tasty nevertheless. What was offered for dinner instead was way more convincing.
Not only the choice, but especially the quality was appealing.
Two warm dishes and a selection of several starters combined with a wide range of soft drinks, spirits, beer and wine available make the Executive Lounge of Hilton Budapest City one of the best ones we encountered in Europe so far!
As we enjoyed the lounge the other evening, we decided to have breakfast there, too.
As expected, we were not disappointed. Hilton Budapest City offers several warm dishes including scrambled eggs and grilled vegetables as well as several sweet and savory items on the buffet.
Even cut fruits, a choice of different yogurts including Bircher Muesli and some fish was available on the buffet. Service was managed by just one person, but was fairly efficient and friendly nevertheless.
Considering it was a breakfast in an Executive Lounge, the management Hilton Budapest City once again proved that they know what they are doing.
Hilton Budapest City is by no means a very luxurious hotel, but it’s very solid quality with a great value for the money. The rooms are a little old and need a renovation, especially when it comes to the design.
The bathrooms are absolutely okay, but not luxurious either. The lounge as well as the gym are extremely good compared to other Hilton properties. Service at check-in, in the lounge and at check-out was friendly, too.
However, the location of Hilton Budapest City is a little downer as the hotel would be a perfect choice for a stay in Budapest otherwise. Nevertheless, I’d definitely recommend staying at Hilton Budapest City if you get a good deal!
