City Park Hotel Poznan is one of the newest luxury hotels in the city. Located a little further away from the busy city center, the hotel offers large and modern rooms that are generously sized as well as a full service offer including a restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a Spa area with gym, pool and different saunas. Even though there were some minor downers, we enjoyed our stay at City Park Hotel & Residence Poznan.
There are several decent hotels in Poznan and most of these got a way better location than City Park Hotel Poznan.
However, the modern design and the large rooms attracted us to book the new luxury hotel which is well connected to the city center by public transportation.
Moreover, the idea of connecting a residential area with several apartments and a hotel sounds really interesting. In fact, City Park Hotel Poznan felt like a secluded area which is far away from all other inhabitants of the city.
Yet, there is a disadvantage as well as the hotel consists of several different buildings. As our experience started with friendly and helpful staff, we didn’t bother too much about this fact.
With 43 square meters (463 square feet) the Standard Rooms at City Park Hotel Poznan are the most generously sized rooms of this category in whole Poland.
Immediately after entering our room which was located (like all Standard Rooms are) in a detached building without direct access to the other facilities, the great size got obvious.
Not only was there a large bed, but also a seating area with a couch and armchair as well as another table with two chairs. Moreover, Standard Rooms at City Park Hotel Poznan got a large working desk and a fully equipped kitchen including a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities.
Something we didn’t like was the fact that while being bright, the room we got at City Park Hotel Poznan was a little noisy even though the street wasn’t right next to the room.
Sadly, the windows are not soundproof as well and the furniture in general is by no means of the highest quality.
While the design of our room at City Park Hotel Poznan was very modern and appealing, we did not really like the design of the bathroom.
The tiles don’t look modern at all and the choice of color is questionable. We also had a problem with the layout as we were surprised to find a bidet while there was no detached shower and just a single sink.
Personally, I highly prefer a detached shower over a bidet. The shower bathtub combination was by no means bad, but it wasn’t luxurious either. Surprisingly, the toiletries were to be found a refillable squeeze bottle inside the shower.
Even though I liked this idea from an environmental standpoint, I was a little surprised that City Park Hotel Poznan does not only not offer guests conditioner, but also only a shampoo-shower gel combination.
After a stressful day, we were looking forward to trying the gym and pool facilities of City Park Hotel Poznan.
As we didn’t find any bathrobes or slippers in our room and the facilities were located in another building anyway, we just went over in full gear. After we got greeted friendly, we were shown the changing rooms.
Once again, I did not really feel like staying in a luxury hotel as we did neither get slippers nor a bathrobe. The facilities, however, are very nice. There is a large pool which is suitable for labs and also a very large Jacuzzi with a good temperature.
Moreover, there are different types of saunas and a steam bath as well as sufficient shower facilities. Downside was that there were rarely any comfortable lounging facilities and the gym of City Park Hotel Poznan is not even worth a mention.
With just six machines and one out of operation, the only positive thing to mention about the gym is the nice view of the residential area.
City Park Hotel Poznan offers a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant, but we decided to have room service breakfast instead.
Not being hungry, we just ordered some cereals with yogurt and fruits and an omelet with cheese. While the latter was freshly prepared and very tasty, the rest of the breakfast was a full disappointment.
Packaged and cheap yogurt, a few cereals and a choice of melons as well as some pineapple was neither presented according to five star standards nor did it actually taste good. On the other hand, the freshly squeezed juice I ordered was very tasty and generous in size.
On the bottom line, City Park Hotel Poznan was a little disappointing. The design of the rooms is very appealing and the size is very generous.
However, the quality of the furniture is cheap and the bathroom is strangely shaped and not really hits five star standards when it comes to toiletries and the shower. While the pool area is very nice, we missed the lounging facilities and a better equipped gym.
The ordered room service breakfast which was quite expensive considering Poznan is not a very expensive city in general was not satisfying either. However, with the staff being overly helpful and friendly and the prices usually being quite low, I’d stay at City Park Hotel Poznan again. However, I wouldn’t bother trying something else either.
