Hotel de Rome Berlin is one of only three Rocco Forte Hotels in Germany. It’s known to be one of the best luxury hotels in the city which was a real invitation to try it out for us! Being a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, we also expected great service, beautiful décor and amazing food. After testing thoroughly, we can safely say: We were not disappointed!

True luxury experiences in Berlin are not rare. The city is known for its good value for the money when it comes to luxury hotels.
For example, we already stayed at Hotel Adlon Kempinski, Hotel Palace and many more hotels in the city. Yet, Hotel de Rome Berlin is not like the others.
Being way smaller and though offering more personal service, the Rocco Forte Hotel stands out from the larger hotels.
Having a very good name, which also means having a very high price tag, our expectations were extremely high.
Our check-in at Hotel de Rome Berlin was very smooth.
The staff was attentive and helpful and pleasantly accompanied us to our room.
We were assigned a Deluxe Room with a view of the inner courtyard. On the one hand, the inner courtyard is bad due to the boring view, on the other hand, the inner courtyard is very good as our room was extremely quiet.
Talking of the interior, we were not disappointed either. Next to the large bed there are two nightstands where we found a bottle of water each after turn-down service.
The Deluxe Room at Hotel de Rome Berlin does also have a working desk and a couch with a small table. Moreover, there’s a cloakroom area close to the door of the room which is pleasantly separated from the room itself.
Last but not least, there’s a television which was the only real disappointment in the room. It’s not only small, but also very old and though offering a very streaky quality.
While the Deluxe Room itself was quite large, the size of the bathroom is more on the smaller side.
On very small space, guests can find a shower, a sink, a bathtub, a bidet and a toilet. Sadly, the latter is not separated – something other luxury hotels in Berlin offer.
There’s also just a single sink. However, this one is large with enough space to lay down toiletries. The whole bathroom is paneled with marble and looks very luxurious. Same goes for the Rocco Forte labeled toiletries which are of highest quality.
All in all, the bathroom has a good layout taking its size into account. If the latter is no problem for you, I’m sure you’ll love your bathroom at Hotel de Rome Berlin!
Hotel de Rome Berlin offers a full service Spa. This means that guests may either enjoy a treatment or the many complimentary facilities.
The latter include a lab pool, sauna and steam bath as well as large changing rooms with several toiletries. There’s also a modern gym with several machines.
However, the gym was only average as it doesn’t offer a lot of daylight and is not well equipped for strength training. The other facilities are very good in contrast.
The pool is interestingly shaped, making it good for those who like swimming labs and those who just want to dip in at the same time.
The loungers which are located around the pool as well as in the relaxation room close to the sauna and steam bath are large and very comfortable. Be aware of falling asleep when chilling by the pool!
Both, the sauna and the steam bath, are spacious and well maintained, the temperature is just right. Last but not least, the little buffet with tea, water and fruits in the Spa area is worth a mention.
All items are complimentary and a real treat whilst relaxing.
Hotel de Rome Berlin offers 24 hours room service which we took advantage of in the evening. While Sabrina had lobster risotto, I went for a Caesar Salad and Gnocchi afterwards.
Sabrina’s dish was absolutely amazing and had the perfect consistency. My Caesar Salad was pretty much like Caesar Salad tastes everywhere.
Nevertheless, the chicken was very good and the dressing was lovely, too. I also liked that Hotel de Rome Berlin offered a choice of three different breads in the basket.
The Gnocchi with butter and Parma Ham were very good, too. After we enjoyed our room service dinner, we decided to also have some drinks at the bar. These came with a choice of tasty snacks.
The drinks were very expensive, but very good, too. We especially liked how creative the drinks were served, uncommon, but quite amazing!
The day we woke up at Hotel de Rome Berlin was actually Easter Monday. That meant that breakfast had a very special touch, for example with an Easter Cake, that morning.
Nevertheless, breakfast at Hotel de Rome Berlin is pretty much the same every day. There is a large choice of everything you may think of on the buffet: Several mueslis, different yoghurts, a choice of salads and vegetables, cold cuts and cheeses, different breads and rolls and several sweet choices like cakes or pastries.
Something I especially liked was the generous selection of cut fruits available. The only downer was that only few of the fruits were actually local, while most were exotic. Last but not least, you may order hot dishes for free.
The egg-white omelet I went for was very well done and tasty. Overall, we really enjoyed breakfast which also came with very good service.
Without any doubt, Hotel de Rome Berlin is one of the best luxury hotels in the city. The personal service which was great at reception, breakfast and at the bar is a lovely touch which made our stay a very good one.
The hardware in the room is not the newest, but the interior is tasteful and the size is absolutely sufficient. Our dinner was first class and so was our experience at the bar as well as at breakfast.
This in combination with the very good Spa area with its many complimentary facilities makes us recommend Hotel de Rome Berlin for all travelers seeking a real luxury experience in Berlin. At Hotel de Rome Berlin, you’ll enjoy your stay for sure!
