Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart is one of the best hotels in the city in Southern Germany. Rated five stars, Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart offers its guests a decent standard including modern rooms and the best restaurant in town. We utterly enjoyed our stay at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart, but missed a Spa area and a gym nevertheless.
The location of Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart could hardly be any better.
Just a few steps away from the renowned shopping street Königsstraße, the major sightseeing attractions of the city and the Central Station, you can’t fault with staying at Hotel am Schlossgarten if you have any appointments in Stuttgart.
With just a little over 100 rooms, guests of Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart will also feel the privacy of the hotel which makes it a very special place.
After asking for a room with park view when checking-in to Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart, we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room in the 7th floor.
This meant that we enjoyed a great view of the Schlossgarten, Stuttgart’s biggest park.
The room itself was not very large with 32 square meters (344 square feet), but had a nice layout due to the special shaping.
The interior was quite new as most rooms at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart were recently refurbished.
We enjoyed both, the large and comfortable bed with two bedside tables and the little seating arrangement close to the entrance area.
The television was a little tough to use as it was located in-between the bed and the couch area on a sidewall.
Meanwhile, the working desk was easy and convenient to use and had the perfect size for working on a laptop.
We really liked the refurbishment of the Deluxe Room at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart and expected something similar of the bathroom.
Sadly, this one was a real disappointment. Not only was it extremely tiny, but also very old. There was a shower-tub combination, a toilet and a single sink.
The shower-tub combination was at least equipped with a glass wall instead of a shower curtain, but besides that, rarely anything was good in the bathroom.
At least, the bathroom at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart was spotlessly clean and was equipped with high quality toiletries of Penhaligons.
Even though we were invited for dinner by family this evening, we decided to at least try lunch at the all-day dining restaurant of Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart. Sabrina had “Käsespätzle”, a regional specialty, while I tried another regional specialty: Pork cheeks with lentils.
Both dishes were utterly amazing and had a very good size. Sadly, the service was not really on par with the prior. Something we already experienced after check-in when were served some canapés and sparkling wine in the bar, where we waited 15 minutes just for someone to ask if we want anything.
We ended up enjoying some drinks the next afternoon, too. Again, the quality was good, but the service was average at best.
Surprisingly, service in the breakfast restaurant of Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart was very good. We were seated at the lovely terrace with views of the Schlosspark, a little further away from the buffet.
But that doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t have been asked for coffees and juices several times. Something I especially liked was the fact that freshly squeezed orange juice was served by the table in large (not the normal extremely small) glasses.
Not only the service, but also the buffet was very good. The selection consisted of several cold dishes including fish and a crab cocktail. The choice of fresh fruits, yoghurts and muesli was decent, too.
Last but not least, the freshly prepared dishes which you may order from an extensive card were the absolute highlight of our breakfast.
I’ve enjoyed hundreds of breakfasts in luxury hotels in my life, but an omelet has rarely been as good as at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart ever before.
I have high expectations when I’m staying at a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Taking this into account, it was a little disappointing that Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart does neither have a gym nor a pool or Spa.
At least, you got the opportunity to use a nearby gym for a hefty fee. The bathroom and the streaky service in the all-day-dining restaurant were two other minor downers of our stay at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart.
Nevertheless, we liked the good value for the money offered as the breakfast and the refurbished rooms with views of the Schlosspark are amazing. Anyway, a refurbishment of the bathrooms is deeply needed. As soon as this is done, I’d fully recommend staying at Hotel am Schlossgarten Stuttgart!
