Angama Mara in Kenya is not only a luxury hotel, it’s also an experience. The lodge located in the south-west of the country, right on the boarder, offers an exclusive atmosphere with two camps with just 15 suites each. A dedicated team living in the reserve is serving guests 24 hours a day. Other features of Angama Mara are a swimming pool and a small gym.
Angama Mara is located in the incredible Maasai Mara, renowned for the yearly crossings of the Mara River which is one of the most spectacular things happening in the world of wildlife.
Guests of Angama Mara offers the chance to see the Big Five as well as other interesting animals like the jackal, the rare cheetah or the bat-eared fox. The natural beauty can also be enjoyed while watching one of the 470 bird species in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
While guests of the luxury resort enjoy the wildlife, they don’t have to think about accommodation. Angama Mara offers 15 suites each in two camps located not far away from each other.
All tents offer incredible views of the steppe as they are all located on a mountain. To enjoy this to the utmost, guests can find an eleven meter long terrace and large floor-to-ceiling windows in all suites.
Each of the tented suites is larger than 100 square meters (~ 1.076 square feet) and comes with a large bathroom and the spacious terrace which is offering spectacular views of the wild all day long. For sure, all tented suites are equipped with just the best furniture available on the market, while still keeping the classic touch of the bush.
All guests of Angama Mara enjoy full board. At the luxury lodge, this means four meals a day, starting with a breakfast which is either served in the tented suite, in the public areas or – if you want to go for an early game drive – in the bush.
Same is also true for all other dishes served all day long besides dinner which can only be enjoyed in the bush when Angama Mara is offering its signature bush barbecue!
All dishes at Angama Mara are freshly prepared in the camp and focus on local ingredients as well as traditional bush cuisine.
Guests at Angama Mara don’t only see the beauty of a safari, they can also taste it!
Activities are plenty at Angama Mara. If you just seek for a day of relaxation, you may enjoy the pool deck with stunning views or one of the loungers next to the pool for an in-chair safari with views of the steppe!
What’s definitely more stunning are game drives which are offered more than just once a day. But that’s not all what Angama Mara has to offer. Be it bush picnics or guided walks, there’s hardly anything you can’t do while staying at Angama Mara.
While enjoying the nature and the beautiful wildlife, you’ll most likely also see the Big Five as the population at Maasai Mara is huge. If you are not likely to run away from lions, you also have the pleasure to enjoy a gym at Angama Mara, something that’s rare even for luxury game reserves!
Angama Mara is a special resort without any doubt. However, the prices are extremely high, making staying at Angama Mara a pleasure for the rich only. In 2014, rates start at 990 US-Dollar (~ 890 Euro) per night from the 1st of November to the 18th of December.
From today to 31st of October and from 19th of 31st of December, rates rise up to 1250 US-Dollar (~ 1.125 Euro) per night. For next year, the rates are 825 US-Dollar (~ 740 Euro) in low season, 1.100 US-Dollar (~ 990 Euro) in mid season and 1.400 US-Dollar (~ 1.260 Euro) in high season.
All these rates are per person and include full board with drinks included (except champagne), transfers, guided safaris, guided walks, laundry service and all taxes. However, there are some fees like the Maasai Mara Park Fee to be payed additionally. Angama Mara may be one-of-a-kind, but it’s also unbelievably expensive.
