Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens is one of two Star Alliance lounges at Athens Airport. For us, it’s also the best lounge at Athens Airport as it offers a good buffet and decent seating. Moreover, the choice of entertainment options is extensive and the staff is very friendly.

Passengers flying with a Star Alliance carrier and holding a certain status have the pleasure to enjoy two different lounges at Athens Airport.
Interestingly, both are located right next to each other.
While we’ll review the Aegean Lounge Athens later, we focus on the – in our opinion – better Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens first.
Seating may be the biggest weakness of the Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens. There are two seating areas which are separated by the reception area.
The larger one houses the big buffet, too. The smaller one comes with small buffet. As both areas are not very big, you should check where more spots are available, so you can get a comfortable seat.
Seating itself is arranged in several different ways. There are comfortable armchairs, normal chairs for eating or working with tables as well as dedicated working areas without computers, but the privacy to work efficiently.
Even though seating is comfortable, the furniture is a little old and run-down. Moreover, only a few seats actually enjoy views of the airport infrastructure and the highway.
What makes the Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens the best lounge at the airport is the extensive buffet offered to passengers.
While the small buffet just offered some snacks as well as a huge choice of alcoholic (including wines and spirits) and non-alcoholic drinks, the large buffet was surprisingly extensive for a regional lounge in Europe. There were three hot dishes as well as a soup on offer.
Especially the quality and the taste were outstanding compared to what we usually find in lounges in Europe. Even though it was quite difficult to take pictures, I can safely say that the food selection was more than decent.
Not to forget about the great selection of drinks which was available not only on the small, but on both buffets. Kudos Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens!
Another sweet spot at the Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens is the available entertainment. Not only can you watch news shown on one of the modern flat-screen televisions, but there’s a hell lot of reading material, too.
German, Greek and several international newspapers (including French and Italian ones) are available at the Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens. Wi-Fi was very good in the beginning, but the quality heavily declined when the lounge got crowded later on.
The only thing really missing were computers, but most people usually use laptops and tablets anyway.
Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens may be a comparable old lounge which gets obvious when you have a closer look on the furniture which you won’t find in many Lufthansa Lounges today.
Anyway, we enjoyed our stay in the lounge due to the comfort of seating, the good quality and taste of the food as well as the good and helpful service (our flight was delayed). Especially the buffet was exceptionally good for a European lounge, making us recommend Lufthansa Business Lounge Athens heavily!
Curious what the world of lounges has to offer in comparison?
What a beautiful set up for an airport lounge! Even just down to the little details like the fresh bread… love it!
It’s amazing indeed. Fresh bread is something I rarely see in lounges, even in very good ones!
