BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow is one of four British Airways lounges at London Heathrow Airport. This one is a little tricky when it comes to access as it is mainly the lounge for all frequent flyers with the highest status either with British Airways or another oneworld carrier. For “real” First Class passengers, there’s another lounge at the airport. Nevertheless, BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow offers a decent overall experience.
London Heathrow is a real paradise when it comes to different lounges. Since Terminal 5 opened its doors, British Airways offers four different lounges at the airport.
BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow is the second best after the renowned Concorde Room. The other two lounges at the airport are the BA Galleries Lounge South and the BA Galleries Lounge North which are on opposite sides of the terminal.
If you have access to the BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow, you should spend your time in this lounge nevertheless.
BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow is surprisingly large for a First Class lounge. The lounge is more or less one large area, but is separated by several room dividers.
Between the different seating areas, there are also bar sections with drinks. There are several different seat arrangements, but most are couch style seating which is quite comfortable and perfect to relax.
There are also several dining tables in the buffet area as well as some areas with bar chairs. Last but not least, there are also business areas with computers and some more bar style seating.
Our personal highlight is the terrace which is not really outdoor, but rather inside the airport structure. Yet, it feels way more airy than the rest of the lounge which makes it a great place to relax.
An area where I expected more of the BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow was the buffet. Especially compared to the Etihad Airways Premium Lounge Abu Dhabi, the BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow fell short.
We checked the lounge out for breakfast and dinner and found a nice, but not overwhelming selection at both times. The breakfast spread consisted of cold cuts, rolls, croissants, fruits, yoghurts and several hot items.
Sadly, neither the choice nor the availability were really good.
The dinner spread consisted of a salad bar as well as some hot choices like rice with different curries, noodles and a few other dishes.
Moreover, the typical sandwiches which are available in all BA lounges were also available in the BA Galleries First Lounge. Even though the dinner spread was a little disappointing for a first class lounge, the choice of drinks was quite awesome.
There were several self-service bars with soft drinks as well as areas with wines and beers available. The highlight for many may be the champagne bar which can be found in the middle of the main seating area and is stocked with dozens of bottles of Taittinger champagne.
Something we recognized way to late is that you can order small dishes like a Hamburger from the kitchen on request. Something for the next time we fly via London!
British Airways did a very nice job in providing a decent lounge in all areas. The BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow also is a fine lounge when it comes to entertainment.
There are several areas where newspapers and magazines, mainly English ones, are available. Also, there’s more than just one area where you can get your work done and make use of one of the several computers or printers which were all modern and fast.
Something I absolutely adored was the fact that the bar-style working areas all came with different plugs for devices from all over the world. Surely, there were also the obligatory televisions showing news stations and Wi-Fi access which was just average overall. Especially when the lounge is crowded, the speed drops heavily.
This review of the BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow may not sound overly positive. Yet, the lounge is actually quite enjoyable. You just shouldn’t have false expectations when entering the lounge. I’d say the BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow is rather a better business class lounge than a real first class lounge.
Nevertheless, it would be an awesome business class lounge which I’d love to have at every airport. You’ll find everything you need at the BA Galleries First Lounge London Heathrow and you can sip as much good champagne as you want or order something from the menu to get some fresh food, so there’s not much to complain about!
