The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town is definitely an extremely impressive property. Upon arriving at the hotel, you’ll be immediately flashed by its size and the great location. However, we did not only find positive aspects about The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town in our hotel review. Nevertheless, the property is definitely recommendable as it offers service on an extremely high level!

The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town is one of the members of The Leading Hotels of the World in Cape Town and so was an obvious choice for us.
Located right at the Cape Town Waterfront, the location could hardly be any better. That said, the welcome you get at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town makes you feel like a king. As we arrived, we were pampered by several members of the staff and had a great check-in experience.
There are lots of other hotels which could learn from The Table Bay Hotel in that regard.
Our room with the difficult name Superior Luxury Family Room was located extremely far away from the elevators. However, that’s not a bad thing in this case as it was a corner room which offered beautiful views of both, the ocean and Table Mountain.
The large windows and the bright room excited us instantly. Besides, the Superior Luxury Family Room at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town is fine, but not stunning. The décor is classic, but at the same time not dated.
We found a large sofa, a nice working desk, more than just one wardrobe and a very comfortable King Bed. The size of the room was very generous, but it was yet far away from a suite.
It’s rather a large room which is absolutely sufficient and definitely made me happy due to its great views! Something else that made us happy were the lovely welcome treatments which consisted of several chocolates, cheeses, nuts and a large bottle of wine.
Last but not least, there was also a coffee machine in the room!
The bathroom at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town had all the grandeur you’ll expect in a hotel like The Table Bay.
Marble everywhere, golden fittings and very nice lighting made the bathroom of the Superior Luxury Family Room an experience itself.
There was not only a separated toilet, but also a detached shower with a very good pressure. Surely, you can also enjoy a bath in the nice bathtub.
The perfect addition to this classic, yet very comfortable bathroom were the Molton Brown toiletries and the very soft towels. Something to absolutely die for!
The location of The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town makes the hotel’s facilities get in the background a little bit as you can do a lot of things around.
Nevertheless, the luxury hotel offers a very nice pool deck with a Jacuzzi. Yet, it’s closed in August for maintenance, so we couldn’t use it. Besides the renovation works, the pool deck looked very inviting nevertheless. I’m sure it’s a great escape from the busy city in the South African summer.
Another facility the Table Bay Hotel Cape Town offers its guests free of charge is the gym. This one, however, was surprisingly bad. Not only is it very small and offers just a few machines, but these are also very old.
The positive aspects are definitely the many bottles of water, the towels and other equipment available for a good workout. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to be desired when it comes to the gym of The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town.
On the evening of our arrival, we were invited to enjoy a dinner at the main restaurant of The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town. Due to our Leaders Club membership, we were granted a credit of 600 ZAR per person and we can safely say: You can’t even eat enough to use even half of this credit.
The reason therefore is the surprisingly reasonable priced for food at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town.
Not only the service, but also the seating in the restaurant were amazing. The only thing to top this was the food.
Be it the creative selection of breads, the mussels or the seafood salad we had as starters, the Kudu filet or the seafood curry we had as a main or the stunning pre-birthday cake (yes, they served a cake as they knew I had birthday three days later) we got as a desert.
Everything we enjoyed for dinner at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town was top-notch. Definitely an experience that’s recommendable, especially due to the reasonable prices!
Talking of amazing food, breakfast at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town is a good point to continue.
The breakfast buffet of the Table Bay Hotel Cape Town is another “Wow moment” of our experience at the luxury hotel in Cape Town. The Table Bay Hotel offers not only dozens of cheese, cold cuts, breads, fruits and cereals, but also an incredible selection of hot items as well as special dishes like sushi which are rare to find for breakfast even at luxury hotels.
Moreover, there’s a waffle and pancake station where fresh sweet dishes are prepared by your order as well as a juice station with several different freshly squeezed juices. Surely, you can also order egg dishes prepared to your liking.
As amazing as the buffet and the food offerings were, the service was a total disaster. Not only we waited ten minutes for a table, but the waiters were pretty much none catchable during breakfast.
Overall, we were totally impressed by The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town. The staff was wonderful throughout our stay and breakfast was the only letdown in this regard. The quality and choice of food for breakfast and dinner was terrific and nearly over the top.
The rooms look a little dated, but are actually very comfortable and offer stunning views of Table Mountain. Surely, the bathrooms are utterly luxurious, too. The leisure facilities including the pool, the Jacuzzi and the gym are average and especially the latter needs an upgrade rather sooner than later.
Yet, this didn’t really influence our positive overall impression of a great luxury hotel in Cape Town which is definitely worth spending some extra money to enjoy an amazing night in the city!

A very thorough review. Personally, I like the traditional look in a hotel, rather than ultra modern – as long as the decor isn’t looking tired. This hotel had a lot more going for it than against it, including wonderful views. Thank you for the tour.
Thank you! The classic decor can be very tempting in some hotels. While I love the modern design a little more, the classic charme was totally fitting at The Table Bay!
Thanks for the great review!

I’ve stayed there also! Loved the service, the food and the location.. nice it was attached to the mall. Great views of the water! Would definitely go back 🙂
Thanks a lot for sharing your impressions of the hotel! The Table Bay is a really nice option for a stay in Cape Town. We also enjoyed the direct access to the mall, absolutely practical!
