Special: Dinner at The Table Bay Hotel
The Table Bay Hotel is without any doubt one of the best hotels in Cape Town. However, what really made us enjoy was not the hotel itself, but rather Camissa Brasserie, the hotel’s very own restaurant. The combination of high quality food and great service made us absolutely enjoy the evening.
Even though I wrote about dinner at The Table Bay Hotel in our hotel review of the amazing property already, the great food is actually worth its own article. That’s especially true as the value for the money at Camissa Brasserie is actually great.
Creative bread and great starters
The menu of Camissa Brasserie at The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town is absolutely appealing for everyone who likes meat and fish.
Being in Cape Town, we had to try something from the sea and so started with a “Crispy Calamari Salad” and the “West Coast Mussels”.
Before getting the dishes, we were surprised by a more than just creative way of presenting bread. The four different pieces came with butter, vinegar and oil and all were freshly baked.
Together with the salad which came with a lot of fresh seafood and some fried calamari and the mussels, the start into our dinner could hardly have been any better.
Kudu and lobster as main dishes
Being in South Africa, we were looking forward to try some more regional dishes. One was the “Malay Curried West Coast Lobster Pot” which Sabrina couldn’t resist.
I chose the “Grilled Kudu Fillet” which is a type of game meat. Even though the starters were already very filling, I decided to have the whole steak as it just tasted great.
Sabrina was not able to finish her dish, but was totally amazed, too.
Great service and a lovely service
It’s not often that I’m writing overly positive about dining as we usually don’t care too much about food. Yet, Camissa Brasserie at The Table Bay Hotel made our experience a very special one. That’s not only because of the incredible food, but also because of the service which could have hardly been any more attentive and friendly.
There could have hardly been any better ending for our dinner than a pre-birthday cake. As the staff was aware of the fact that I would have birthday two days later, they brought an amazing chocolate cake to the table. That’s how restaurants should always be!
