Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz is one of the newer hotels in Berlin. While I find it a little awkward that the hotel’s name is so misleading (Potsdamer Platz is located a good ten minutes walk away from the hotel), I was actually impressed by the other facilities and the rooms of the hotel. While the Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz is rated with four stars, there’s not much which differentiates it from one or another luxury hotel I’ve stayed at in the past.
Gathering nights for the IHG Accelerate Promo, we decided to try some new hotels in Berlin. While we were slightly disappointed of our stay at Indigo Berlin Ku’damm, the Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz was a positive surprise.
InterContinental Berlin, the IHG flagship property in Berlin, is very good as well as you’ll see in a review we’ll release in just a few days!
But let’s come back to Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz which is located just two or three minutes away from two different U-Bahn (metro) stations. This means that the location is perfectly fine if you want to use public transportation.
Besides that, there’s not much in the area and Potsdamer Platz with all its shops and restaurants is located a mere ten minutes away by foot.
We didn’t really expect a lot of our stay at Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz, but after a quick and efficient check-in process, we were in a good mood to see our room. And wow, this one was a really positive surprise.
The Deluxe Rooms at Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz are very modern (the hotel opened just a few months ago) and very spacious.
Upon entering, there’s the bathroom to the right and the wardrobe to the left. In the room itself, there’s the large King Bed to the right and the large flat-screen television to the left.
There’s also a little table underneath the television which I’m not really sure what it is supposed to be used for. Next to that construction, there’s the large working desk which comes with an ergonomic chair.
Last but not least, there’s a chair-sofa combo next to the bed which is actually truly nice for lounging. The large windows make the room very bright even though the view was rather boring.
The design and style of the room were very appealing to us. Yet, we had some issues with the modern design lamps which were really tough to turn off.
While the Deluxe Room itself was spacious, the bathroom was on the small side.
The modern and sleek design made it inviting nevertheless. There’s a single sink opposite of the entrance door and a toilet to the right.
To the left is a spacious walk-in shower. For a business hotel that’s absolutely sufficient and just fine to me.
The “Relax Refresh Revive” toiletries were also surprisingly good and the nice touch of an added sleeping and pillow spray were lovely.
Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz comes without a pool, but there are several other nice facilities that are worth writing about.
Even though located in the basement and though only with artificial light, the gym feels spacious. It is equipped with state-of-the-art machines and has a decent selection of cardio and strength machines.
What’s even nicer is the little Spa area with a sauna, a steam bath and a relaxation room. The design is once again modern and the condition of the facilities is perfect. As there are not many people down in the Spa area even in the evening, it is really enjoyable for just hanging out and relaxing for some minutes.
Definitely a great addition to the experience at Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz.
Another very positive surprise was our breakfast experience at Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz. While we didn’t really expect the breakfast at the hotel to be extremely good, we were positively surprised.
Not only were the selection and freshness of the items at the buffet very good, but the service was also among the best ones we received for breakfast in Berlin.
You may also order freshly prepared egg dishes at Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz which somewhat differentiates the property from most other four star hotels in the city.
For a four star property, the Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz is without any doubt an absolutely amazing hotel! There may be a few better hotels in the city, but when it comes to the value for the money, the Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz is among my favorite hotels in the city.
That’s due to the very nice and spacious rooms, the very good breakfast and the enjoyable Spa area. While Hotel Palace Berlin will keep being my favorite property in the city, I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz again!
