Running in Madrid came with a surprisingly beautiful sunrise. When getting up and looking out of the window, the weather didn’t look too promising. Nevertheless, it got better and better. Like that, I was able to enjoy running in Madrid even more, especially as Madrid has so many amazing buildings, which are worth taking a picture of while running along!
Decent weather, ten degrees Celsius – the conditions could have hardly been any better for running in Madrid!
After leaving Gran Melia Fenix, I decided to run in the direction of Calle de Serrano.

This boulevard is renowned for its luxury boutiques and the beautiful walkways, which make shopping enjoyable.
It also comes with great walkways!
Especially on a sunny morning, the boulevard was also perfect for running!
If there’s one area of Madrid, where running is truly amazing, it is Parque de El Retiro.
On my way to the park, I also passed Puerta de Alcalá, the triumphal arch in Madrid, which is quite impressive.
There are many nice monuments in the park
The park itself is even more impressive as it is not only consisting of a lot of trees and some water, but also is home of several monuments and impressive buildings.
One of the highlights is Monumento Alfonso XII, which lays right behind the largest lake in the park.
Not any less impressive is Palacio de Cristal, which looked very nice in the sunset, too!
Even though I didn’t really want to leave the beautiful park, I had some more interesting sights on my itinerary for running in Madrid.
Next was Estación Atocha, the most beautiful train station in the city. Next to the station, there are also some historic buildings like Minsterio de Agricultura.
El Ministerio de Agricultura is one of many stunning buildings in the area
On the way back, you’ll spot even more amazing buildings. There’s not only the Botanical Garden, but also Museo Nacional del Prado, one of the most famous museums in the world.
You may also take a small detour to have a look at the impressive San Jerónimo el Real church, which is located right behind the Prado.
The Prado is truly amazing and so are several other buildings like the old city house which nowadays is the Westin Hotel.
Yet, running in Madrid came with a few other highlights, which included Palacio de Cibeles, one of the most impressive buildings in the city.
Palacio de Cibeles is one of the buildings in Madrid you definitely have to see with your own eyes
The Biblioteca National is also worth having a look at.
Nevertheless, I’d recommend to just have an open eye while running in Madrid as you’ll spot amazing historic buildings on every corner.
