London is a city probably every traveler has on his or her bucket list or has already been to. Even though London is known for its rainy weather all year round, that won’t hinder anyone to visit the British capital. As London has so much to offer when it comes to sightseeing, here are our top things to do and see in the city of London!
Millennium Wheel is another name for London Eye, truly a landmark of the city of London.
Admittedly, it is definitely cool to just take a picture of it, but taking a ride on London Eye is well worth the money and the waiting time as you will see unique views of London!
London has a rich and moving history with both, glamorous and dark moments.
London Dungeon shows it all, from Jack the Ripper to the Great Fire of London with a cool mixture of humor and horror. You should definitely give that one a shot!
London is nothing without its river Themes and whether planned or not, you are going to cross Themes when discovering London.
Be sure to breath in and get an impression of London’s skyline while doing so!
Tower Bridge London is another world-famous landmark of the British capital.
Big Ben is how the most famous Clock Tower of London is called, even though its official name is Elizabeth Tower.
The best way to get a great picture of Big Ben is the perspective from the bridge nearby!
Buckingham Palace is the official residence and working place of the reigning monarch of the UK.
It is not possible to get too close, but be sure to always be able to have a look at the impressive palace after your trip!
The Tower of London is not a palace, but rather an impressive fortress.
Not any surprisingly, it has played a huge role in London’s past.
London Underground is not just any subway. It is the oldest subway of the world and has the largest network length in Europe.
What also is kind of fascinating is the Oyster Card System. Sadly, taking the Underground is on the pricey side, just as everything in London.
Piccadilly Circus almost feels like a small version of New York’s Times Square.
Not only the neon signs remind me of Times Square, but also the fact that there are several shopping opportunities and that Piccadilly Circus is an important junction when it comes to traffic.
Windsor Castle is the biggest and also oldest inhabitated castle of the world! The history of Windsor Castle London dates back to the 11th century!
Admittedly, these are the most popular things. But don’t miss leaving your spurs off the beaten track to really see what London is all about!
Ah, these are wonderful tips..I’ve always dreamed of hopping onto this double decker bus..I hope to ride it soon and feel the unique experience..
It’s one of my favorite cities! 😍
Thanks for the helpful suggestions!
A very concise & well written writeup, Honorable mentions especially for rainy London days are the free museums such as National Gallery (Monet, Da Vinci, etc) & British Museum (5000 year old artifacts). Also the smoky earl grey tea from Fortnum & Mason should be on the must buy list 🙂
We just finished our own London writeup & love the fact that we’ve focused on slightly different things to do. There is just so much to do in London 🙂 https://beyondourhorizons.wordpress.com/2016/03/29/london-england-attractions/
