Running in Rio de Janeiro
Running in Rio de Janeiro was something I was truly looking forward to. Especially staying at Hotel Fasano, which is located right next to the beach, I was expecting a phenomenal run. As it turned out, the run was even more just amazing!
While the map of my run in Rio de Janeiro is not completely accurate as I basically forgot to end Runtastic after my run, it’s still good to see where I’ve been.
- Distance: 7 kilometers
- Jogged altitude: 20 meters
- Calories burned: 500-550
- Month: April
- Weather: Sunny
However, it’s not very hard to follow my path anyway if you’re looking forward to doing so as you basically just have to follow the beach!
Yet, you should be aware that Rio de Janeiro is known for its “endless” beaches!
At this point it’s worth noting that the weather this morning was phenomenal, maybe two or three degrees too hot, but definitely great anyway!
From Ipanema to Copacabana
Starting my run at Hotel Fasano, I had the pleasure to first catch a glance of the beautiful Ipanema Beach, before running to the world famous Copacabana Beach!
First, I went through nice little park with the name “Parque Garota de Ipanema” and just a few minutes later I found myself at the start of the Copacabana Beach. And oh boy, the views were phenomenal.
It might have been due to the great weather or just due to the beauty of Rio, but I actually had to stop for a second to admire the scenery!
From beach to street
With the amazing scenery in mind and a lot of power, I decided to take on the first kilometers on the beach. While running on the beach definitely isn’t the easiest, admiring some interesting buildings, while at the same time having endless of the sea, made it way easier.
I even hard time leaving the beach again as I could have run on for so many more kilometers. If you happen to be in Rio de Janeiro, you definitely need to run at Copacabana Beach, you’ll enjoy it to the utmost!
Nevertheless, I took the walkway between beach and street on the way home to relax a little bit. Doing so, I was also able to admire the partly quite interesting skyline at Copacabana Beach!
From running to swimming
After I took the short way from Copacabana Beach back to Ipanema Beach, I found myself at Hotel Fasano again.
After dropping my stuff, I decided to go for a swim in the sea, which was quite relaxing and yet quite strenous due to the heavy waves. Nevertheless, it’s highly recommended to end your run at the beach of Rio de Janeiro with swimming in the sea.
Together, it is an amazing experience I can just recommend to anyone! I’ll also go on and release a second Rio de Janeiro running guide in a couple of weeks, this time taking on Ipanema Beach!
