Reviewing airline food is nothing new for us at travelxublog. Be it a small Economy Class meal, a multi course menu in Business Class or an opulent dinner in First Class – we’ve done it all.

Yet, I was very interested to see on how the food, which is served in the airplane, is chosen. Lucky enough, I had the pleasure to be invited to the Air Dolomiti Winter Meal Presentation!

How was the Air Dolomiti Winter Meal Presentation?

With Air Dolomiti being a rather small carrier with just ten Embraer 190 aircrafts flying rather short routes, there is nothing special about the Economy Class food. That’s why the Air Dolomiti Winter Meal Presentation focused on the Business Class food!

Interestingly, the food for Air Dolomiti is not prepared by LSG Sky Chefs (the caterer of Lufthansa), but rather by the small company Air Caterer Munich, which also prepares the meals for other airlines like bmi regional. After meeting with the product manager and Silvana from the PR department in Friedberg, Germany, I had the chance to sample the new Air Dolomiti Business Class menu and help choosing the ideal options.

Which meals will you see in the Air Dolomiti Business Class in the new season?

It’s boring to know what exactly you’ll get served? That’s my opinion as well. That said, I won’t exactly tell you which of the many meals presented were chosen in the end, but rather give you a broad overview of what’s on offer.

Due to the small aircrafts, there are no hot meals at all. For breakfast, this means that you’ll get served a selection of cold cuts and cheeses alongside a selection from the bread basket. The lunch and also dinner menu comes with different cold options like salmon, roasted duck or other special creations.

If you are instead flying in the afternoon, you’ll get a sweet snack like a cake or apple strudel. Depending on the length of flight, there is also an additional snack matching the main meal. For lunch and dinner, you also get a small desert.

Not only was it quite interesting for me to see how the Air Dolomiti Business Class Menu is chosen, but it was also quite an honor to have a say in what is chosen in the very end. I hope I didn’t do too badly, so you can expect great food in the Air Dolomiti Business Class in the upcoming season. The food will be available starting in the next two weeks, so you’ll have the chance to give it a try soon enough! If you won’t have the chance to fly the Air Dolomiti Business Class sometime soon, I’ll be your guinea pig to also try the food in the air as I’ll fly the Air Dolomiti Business Class in early 2017. Surely, you can expect an extensive review of this experience!
