Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro is one of the most trending hotels in Brazil. The property got a steep price tag, but is also renowned for great service. You’ll see whether it’s worth staying at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro in our extensive hotel review!
Arriving in Rio de Janeiro after a long flight from Tokyo via New York, we were looking forward to staying at an amazing property.
Hotel Fasano Rio de Janerio was an excellent option for such a stay, especially as a complimentary night as courtesy of the Leaders Club Unlimited program.
Located just across the street from Ipanema Beach and also just a couple of minutes away from Copacabana Beach, the luxury hotel could hardly be better located.
After checking-in to Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro early in the morning, I didn’t expect to immediately get a room. As it appeared, the room was ready around noon.
Nevertheless, we were well treated in the meantime with a refreshing shower and some time by the incredible pool (more on this later). The Deluxe Room we were assigned was located on the second floor, which didn’t exactly excite me at first sight. Yet, it’s worth noting that the Deluxe Room all offer sea view, while the Superior Rooms do not.
Rooms on higher floors are also slightly more expensive, which has two reasons: The view is better the further up you are and the street noise is reduced in the higher floors. The Deluxe Rooms at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro are well sized with 40 square meters and also look quite modern. Upon entering, you can find the wardrobe to the right and the bathroom to the left.
The room itself got a different layout than the usual hotel rooms you’ll find. As usual, the bed was the center piece of the room. However, it was located right in the middle, while the working desk was behind it. This configuration also makes it possible to see the sea from your bed or the comfortable chair with ottoman in front of it.
The large floor-to-ceiling windows open up to a spacious balcony with a chair and a small desk, from which you can enjoy nice views of the sea (not so much in the second floor, but definitely further up). It’s worth noting that the design of the Deluxe Rooms at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro is quite modern and definitely something special.
The bathroom of the Deluxe Room isn’t exactly spacious, but once again comes with a unique design.
In my opinion, the available space was quite well used with a partioned of toilet with bidet, a single sink with lots of storage space next to it and a spacious walk-in shower.
The toiletries provided were of high quality and the shower pressure was good enough. Sometimes even small bathrooms can be quite nice as you’ll see when staying at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro!
I’ve already mentioned the pool at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro. This one might be the most important selling point of the property as it is located on the roof of the property and thus offers an incredible view of Ipanema Beach and the city.
I highly doubt there are any spots in the city, which offer a nicer view. Plus, the pool itself has a nice temperature and also a good size, making it a great place to spend a couple of hours. The many loungers located around the pool make this even easier.
Surely, you can also expect special service when being by the pool at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janerio as there are several employes just watching for the guests. In the evening, we went to enjoy our welcome drinks at the pool bar and were also treated to a selection of snacks.
While the pool bar definitely is an amazing spot to have a snack or lunch, be aware that the prices are quite elevated, especially by Brazilian standards. It’s worth noting that Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro also comes with a small gym.
This one sadly doesn’t offer a view and also feels quite crowded when you are not the only guest. At least, there are a couple of snacks including muesli bars and fruits.
As a Leaders Club member, I was also treated to free breakfast at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro. Served in the restaurant of the property next to reception, there is no view to be enjoyed while having breakfast.
Nevertheless, the restaurant is quite atmospheric and airy. I somewhat expected breakfast to be served à la carte, but as it appeared, there is a typical buffet breakfast served. The options available are decent, yet not overwhelming.
The quality of the items is very high, so there’s nothing negative to say in this regard. You can also order eggs and other hot options made to order, which I took advantage of. Nevertheless, the breakfast at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro somewhat lacked the “wow factor”.
Staying at Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro was an amazing experience. The pool is incredible and may be one of the most amazing and trending spots int he whole city. The rooms come with a unique (in a positive way) design and offer incredible views of the beach.
The service is very good and friendly and the food is of the highest quality. All that said, Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro is a little too expensive for what is offered in my opinion. The property is great without any doubt, but I’m not sure whether it’s worth paying such a high premium compared to other hotels in the area.
