Lounge Review: Lufthansa Senator Café Munich

Lufthansa Senator Café Munich Bar

The Lufthansa Senator Café Munich is the smallest lounge at Munich Airport. Located in the Main Terminal of Munich Airport, the lounge offers a limited lounge experience.

This review will be rather short compared to my other lounge reviews. That’s because the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich is extremely small. To be it in contrast, the Senator Café Munich is approximately one third or one fourth of the size of the normal Senator Lounges in Munich. I’ve already reviewd the following for you:

Seating in the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich

The Lufthansa Senator Café Munich is located opposite the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Schengen and is not more than a small cubicle in the middle of the terminal.

Lufthansa Senator Café Munich Seating

The Lufthansa Senator Café Munich is a very small lounge

Upon presenting your boarding pass (you may access the lounge holding a Star Alliance Gold Status or a First Class Ticket), you are admitted into the sole room of the lounge.

There are several different seating areas

There’s mainly high-top seating in the middle of the lounge with some normal tables on the long side of the lounge. Separated by sort of room divider, there are also four armchairs for more relaxed seating.

Interestingly, the lounge is a mix between the modern and the old lounge design of Lufthansa. While not big, the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich also has never been crowded when I visited the lounge.

Buffet in the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich

You’ll also find a limited buffet at the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich. This buffet is fine for grabbing a snack, but not on-par with what is offered in the real Senator Lounges.

The buffet is limited, but creative

What I found interesting is the fact that there is not just a “mini” buffet of the items also available in the other lounges, but rather totally different items. Personally, I appreciate the idea of offering little snack platters, which are great if you are in a hurry.

What’s especially cool at the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich is that there’s a bar of sorts, where you can order the drink of your choice including barista made coffee as well as smoothies and freshly squeezed juices. While limited, I find the food offerings in the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich to be quite nice.

Entertainment in the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich

For me, Lufthansa is the leader in entertainment when it comes to airlines. In the Lufthansa Senator Café you won’t be blessed with the same options available in other lounges as there is no business center. However, there’s a decent choice of daily newspapers (German and international) available.

While there are also a couple of magazines available at reception, the choice is not comparable to what you’ll get in the Senator Lounge next door. What you can enjoy to the same extent is the very good Telekom Wi-Fi, which is offered in all Lufthansa lounges in Germany.

Bottom line Lufthansa Senator Café Munich

Truth to be told, the Lufthansa Senator Café Munich is no lounge to “wow” about. Nevertheless, it’s a great place if you want to be close to your boarding gate and spend a couple of minutes prior departure. You’ll get a custom-made drink of your choice and a tasty snack alongside good Wi-Fi and a newspaper.

The Lufthansa Senator Café is a nice place to spend a few minutes prior departure

The seating is comfortable, yet not inviting for longer stays. All in all, a good place to kill a few minutes prior departure. If you have more time, you’d better check out one of the real lounges (especially the new one in the Satellite Terminal)!

Curious what the world of lounges has to offer in comparison?
