Running in Florianopolis

Running in Florianopolis or generally in metropolises in Brazil is different to running in Europe. Yet, I’ve had quite an amazing time in Florianopolis as the promenade is ideal for running! Here’s why you should also give running in Floripa a try!

Starting at Sofitel Florianopolis, I just had to cross the Avenue Governador Bornhausen and already found myself at the promenade of Florianopolis.

I’d say that this area is the ideal spot for running in the immediate city center as the lovely parks and the nature around Floripa are a little further away from the city as such.

  • Distance: 6.75 kilometers
  • Jogged altitude: 50 meters
  • Calories burned: 375-425
  • Month: March
  • Weather: Rainy

While it was a little rainy, the weather was still quite good and enjoyable!

Stunning views from the beginning to the end

This is one of those running guides, where I’ll mostly let the pictures speak for themselves.

Running in Florianopolis

This is how enjoyable running in Florianopolis can be

This is due to the fact that I was literally just running along the promenade. While you might say that this sounds boring it’s actually quite an experience due to the changing landscape.

Plus, if you are running more than just one or two kilometers, you will also have the pleasure to enjoy incredible views of the skyline!

The views to start your day with

This run in Florianopolis actually happened on the first morning of my trip to Brazil and thus was the very best way of getting to know a new country.

While on the one side, parts of Florianopolis are rather rundown, there is also another side of the city: Stunning views, great beaches and incredible nature.

If you just run along the promenade, you’ll definitely enjoy the run as the views could hardly be better to start into the day (especially in the sunrise).

Florianopolis and it’s lovely promenade

Running in Florianopolis was a lovely experience, especially thanks to the very nice promenade, which is mainly used by cyclists and joggers.

If you focus on the nature, the sea and the beach and not the street, you’ll have a lovely run. However, you should be aware that the promenade is relatively noisy due to the big street next to it.

Nevertheless, I can just recommend going running in Florianopolis!
