The American Airlines Admirals Club Tokyo Narita is one of seven different oneworld lounges at Narita Airport. You read correctly: seven. And now here’s what’s really surprising: I’d say it’s among the best ones. Why? Read it in our extensive review!
I’ve already reviewed two lounges at Tokyo Narita Airport including the following:
More reviews are to follow starting with the American Airlines Admirals Club in this installment. To my surprise, the Admirals Club is actually a great lounge with nice enough seating, good views and much more.
Access is granted for all passengers holding a Business or First ticket on an oneworld airline, an according frequent flyer status (oneworld Sapphire or Emerald) or an Admirals Club membership. To get to the lounge, you just need to head left after security and will reach the lounge after a five-minute walk.
Before visiting the American Airlines Admirals Club Tokyo Narita, I’ve been to the clubs in Chicago, Dallas and New York. All these lounges are located at American hubs, but I did neither find those great nor very bad anyways.
To my surprise, the lounge at Tokyo Narita Airport made a very good first impression on me. As it’s the norm for Admirals Clubs, there’s a big window front with great views of the tarmac.
The lounge as such is big enough and comes with tons of different seating. Being fairly modern, the seating is also very comfortable. Something that made me especially happy were the working desks by the window, which allowed working with a great view.
There’s also a business center to the back of the lounge. Overall, the American Airlines Admirals Club Tokyo Narita is a great place to sit and relax prior departure.
One of the special weaknesses of Admirals Club usually is the food spread. That’s not exactly true for the American Airlines Admirals Club Tokyo Narita.
There’s actually a decent choice of sushi, a salad buffet, fruits, cake and also a couple of hot options. During the time I visited the lounge, the buffet was not fully set-up and there were still a couple of empty areas.
Thus, I’d expect the buffet of the lounge to be even better in the midday and evening hours. The drink selection is also quite nice with a choice of a couple of decent wines, several spirits and the usual soft drinks out of a dispenser.
Overall, the selection is definitely superior to what is offered in the Cathay Pacific Lounge.
The American Airlines Admirals Club Tokyo Narita also comes with a lot of entertainment options. Something especially worth highliting is the good Wi-Fi, which is working properly in all areas of the lounge.
You can also find a good selection of newspapers and magazines (international and Japanese) in the lounge. As you’d expect in an US-operated lounge, there are also televisions showing news channels.
As I’ve already mentioned earlier, you can find different business areas with computers, too.
Wow! I wouldn’t have expected to ever say that, but the American Airlines Admirals Club Tokyo Narita is actually a great lounge. Sure, the Japan Airlines First Class Lounges (which I’ll review later) are in another league, but compared to the other business class lounges the AA Admirals Club is actually very nice.
If your flight is departing at the main terminal and you only have access to other business class lounges, the Admirals Club would be my first choice!
