Novotel Sydney Central is one of many Accorhotels in the biggest city in Australia. We had just a very brief stay at the property. Thus, I’ll keep this review rather short.
After flying from Queenstown to Sydney with Air New Zealand, we arrived at Novotel Sydney Central in the early evening. The hotel is located a mere five minute walk away from the Central Station, making it quite accessible.
However, I wouldn’t say that the location is especially great for touristic purposes. After some wait at check-in, we were given the keys by a friendly associate. As a Le Club Gold member, I was also given two drink vouchers. Sadly, no upgrade was available.
Weirdly, I accidently booked a Twin Room at the Novotel Sydney Central and that’s also what we got. The Twin Room was located to the far end of the hallway and thus was very calm.
Standard Room at Novotel Sydney Central
The room itself wasn’t especially big, but fine enough for a city hotel. Upon entering, there’s a little wardrobe with the minibar and a kettle to the right and the bathroom to the left. The room itself looked like it was renovated a short while ago.
Personally, I wouldn’t necessarily opt for the very yellow-ish color scheme, but that might just be me. The room had two comfortable beds, a working desk with a comfortable, but not ergonomic chair and another armchair by the window.
Opposite of the bed, there was also a flat screen television. The view of other high-rising buildings is nothing to talk home about. All in all, a decent room.
One little issue I’ve got with the Novotel Sydney Central is the fact that the bathroom size wasn’t changed with the renovation. Thus, the bathrooms are still very small.
Bathroom of the Standard Room
On approximately 3 square meters, there were a small sink, a bathtub-shower combo and a toilet. The shower pressure was okay and the Novotel-branded toiletries weren’t bad either.
The bathroom and the room both were very clean.
I’ll just very briefly explain the food & beverage options at Novotel Sydney Central. There are a bar and a restaurant, yet we didn’t end up having a meal there. Instead, I just ordered a Caesar Salad via in-room-dining.
The room service salad was quite good
The salad was tasty and fresh, but a little pricey. Even though breakfast was included in our rate, the departure was so early that we just grabbed a breakfast box.
The breakfast box lacks substantial and fresh food
I appreciate that this service is offered by the Novotel Sydney Central, but would hope to get more substantial and fresh options next time.
It’s worth noting that the Novotel Sydney Central offers a gym as well as a pool. The gym is well equipped with cardio and strength machines as well as free weights.

There’s also a decent view. However, while I was visiting in the evening, the gym was very crowded. So please excuse the lack of proper pictures. The pool of the Novotel Sydney Central is very basic and small.
The Outdoor Pool is a little small
In addition, it was rather cold in September. Yet, the pool area (it’s outside) is quite nice.
All in all, I’d recommend the Novotel Sydney Central. However, the rates seem to be constantly high for a four-star hotel, making me question the value for the money. The rooms are decent, fairly modern and calm. The facilities with a gym, pool and restaurant are nice as well. The food we had was okay, but nothing to write home about. Everything at the Novotel Sydney Central is okay, but nothing is outstanding.
