Hotel Review: Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol

Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol Garden

Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol is one of the most famous hotels on Cyprus. While the luxury hotel doesn’t look especially nice from the outside, it’s a great place for holidays. If you want to know what you can expect, be sure to read our extensive hotel review!

For our stay on Cyprus, we decided to book the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol, which is located an hour ride away from Laranaca Airport. The property is not located directly in Limassol, but a couple of kilometers outside of the city at the beach. Due to that, there is not much around, but you can have very nice walks along the beach.

We booked a (rather expensive) private transfer to the hotel and arrived in the evening hours. The check-in wasn’t especially warm and upon arriving at our room, we noticed that it was a smoking room. After pointing that out, we were invited for a coffee while waiting for a room.

This time around, another associate was taking care of us, who was very warm and friendly.

As a Leaders Club member, I was upgraded to a Sea View Room.

The only difference is that it is facing the gardens and the sea, which in fact is quite an upgrade to the boring parking lot / street view on the other side of the hotel.

As the hotel is rather old, the rooms are surprisingly small. Upon entering, there is the bathroom to the left and a wardrobe to the right. Further inside, you can find a comfortable bed facing a flatscreen television, a working desk with a chair and two additional chairs by the window.

The balcony is not very big, but allows magnificient views of the sea. To my surprise, I actually liked the (smallish) Sea View Room at Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol very much.

While definitely small for a luxury hotel, the rooms are freshly renovated and come with a very cozy atmosphere. I also loved the small touches like fresh flowers, a bowl of fruits and chocolates each day during our stay.

Bathroom of the Sea View Room

The bathrooms at Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol are especially tiny. There is only a toilet, a sink and a shower-tub combo and everything feels very cramped. Nevertheless, the bathroom is also newly renovated and looks quite stylish. The rain shower head offers a decent shower pressure and the sink has enough storage. In addition, the hotel offers amazing Bulgari amenities, which are among my favorites.

Pools, Gym & Beach at the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol

The Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol is a property holiday hotel, which means that here are plenty of facilities. There’s a Spa with a nice and spacious gym, which comes with modern equipment with nice view.

Then there’s an indoor pool (which is the only pool you can use in off-season) with several loungers alongside a sauna and a steam bath. The area as such is quite nice, but was fairly crowded most times I visited.

In the summer season, there are several more facilities to enjoy. For example, there is a very large and nice looking outdoor swimming pool with a jacuzzi.

Plus, the beautiful garden of the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol invites you to lounge and enjoy the sun.

As the property is located right by the sea, there are also two small beaches, which aren’t especially beautiful, but fine enough.

Afternoon Tea & Dinner at Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol

During our stay at Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol, we ordered room service a couple of times. While the food is relatively pricy, it was quite good at most times.

Service was also prompt and friendly. Having dinner in the comfort of our room, was quite enjoyable, too. One day, we also had an Afternoon Tea in the Lobby Bar. It is  served with either coffee or tea of your choice, which made me go for a very good cappuccino, while Anna enjoyed some tea.

The Afternoon Tea tray itself was surprisingly big as well with a good choice of sweet and savoury options. Sadly, the service wasn’t that great in the lobby.

Breakfast at Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol

In the morning, we had breakfast at the restaurant every day. I wasn’t really sure what to expect as breakfast in Southern Europe usually disappoints. Well, what a bad thought! Breakfast at Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol is amazing.

Breakfast Buffet at Amathus Beach Hotel

There is a very extensive breakfast with lots of options ranging from cold cuts over fruits to bakery and much more. Especially the quality and freshness as well as the presentation was truly amazing.

The only downside was that sitting outside wasn’t really possible due to the many cats roaming around. At the same time, sitting indoors isn’t very nice either.

Yet, I’d say that breakfast at the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol was among the best morning meals I had in Southern Europe.

Overall impressions of Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol

I’ve got high expectations when it comesLeading Hotels and was a little disappointed about the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol at first. Yet, I quite enjoyed the holidays, which is mainly due to the very good breakfast, the amazing view and the beautiful gardens. I also enjoyed the nicely designed room and the good service as well as the many lovely touches like fresh flowers. All in all, I’d recommend staying at the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol. Especially in off-season, when prices are reasonable.
