The Grand Mercure Danang is a luxury hotel in the third biggest city in Vietnam. The hotel is well located and was a really positive surprise. Read why in our extensive hotel review.
During my time in Vietnam, I booked a couple of different Accorhotels. The brand Grand Mercure was a first among those as it doesn’t exist anywhere outside of Asia.
While I’m not really a fan of the Mercure brand, the ‘Grand’ version is supposed to offer a more luxurious experience. And oh well, this experience was just amazing.
Originally, I had booked a Club Room, but got a one category upgrade to a Suite as a Le Club Accor Gold member. After checking in in the Executive Lounge, I was brought to the room, which was… just fascinating.
Upon entering, the wardrobe and the bathroom are to the right. The suites at the Grand Mercure Danang are basically two rooms, seperated by two sliding doors. The living room comes with a working desk with incredible views of the river and the city as well as a couch, a comfortable chair and a coffee table.
There’s also a TV in-between the two sliding doors. The bedroom is more basic with just a comfortable bed, which one again faces a TV.
While the suites at the Grand Mercure Danang aren’t very big, they are spacious enough and are extremely bright due to the large windows.
The views are nothing short of brilliant as well. Last but not least, it’s worth noting that the whole design is very chic and stylish.
However, the materials are not exactly high quality and there are some parts, which are in a rather bad state already.
The Suite at the Grand Mercure Danang comes with a spacious bathroom with double sinks and both, a separated toilet and shower. The real highlight, in my opinion, is the bathtub.
This one is separated from the bedroom by a large window and thus allows incredibly beautiful views while taking a bath. The bathroom can be entered from the entrance area and the bedroom.
As the room, the bathroom is very modern and looks stylish. The shower pressure is decent and the toiletries provided are quite good. Additionally, there is a second small bathroom in the entrance area.
As I originally booked a Club Room, I enjoyed access to the Executive Lounge of the Grand Mercure Danang. This one offers nice views as well, however not of the city.
Physically, it is quite a nice place to hang out and relax or work. The buffet selection during the day is rather limited with just fruits and cookies available.
However, there is a more extensive selection during the evening hours. I wouldn’t say that it is a dinner replacement, but the canapés are quite good.
The service is friendly and very helpful as well. Thus, I’d recommend booking the Executive Lounge at the Grand Mercure Danang as the upcharge isn’t all that big.
Breakfast can either be enjoyed in the restaurant of the hotel or in the Executive Lounge. I chose the latter option as the lounge was nearly empty. Thus, the breakfast experience was very relaxed.
The buffet in the lounge is a little limited with only few cold cuts, cheeses, bread, rolls, preserves and some salad. However, you may also order hot options, including omeletes and several Vietnamese specialities.
While not great, the breakfast in the lounge of the Grand Mercure Danang is very enjoyable.
The Grand Mercure Danang offers some nice recreation facilities as well. On the ground level, you can find a swimming pool, which again isn’t very big. However, it’s nice for some swimming.
Around the pool, there are a few comfortable loungers and the view isn’t bad either. Speaking of the view: It’s great from the gym as well. This one comes with a terrace as well as an indoor area with modern machines for strength and cardio training.
While not very big, the gym was empty when I visited. Last but not least, there’s also a Spa at the Grand Mercure Danang. I enjoyed a very nice massage and had a look at the facilities afterwards.
There’s a sauna, a cold pool, a steam bath and a nice relaxation area. All in all, the Grand Mercure Danang offers great facilities.
Before my stay, I wasn’t sure what to expect of the Grand Mercure Danang. After my stay, I can wholeheartedly recommend the hotel. Not only was the stay great in all regards, from the amazing suite to the nice lounge to the great relaxation facilities. But the staff also went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. They even arranged a driver who took me around town for a very fair price. Just amazing. Thus, when visiting Danang and not needing a beach, the Grand Mercure Danang definitely should be your first choice. The value for the money couldn’t be any better.
