2017 is coming to an end and we on traveluxblog are incredibly happy that you remained to be our readers from January to December. Regardless of whether you are just checking out travelux once a year for a particular review or a regular reader, we are happy to have you!
Today, it’s time to look back on a very interesting year on traveluxblog. We didn’t change all that much, but instead decided to keep traveluxblog what it is: a platform where you can find helpful reviews, guides and information about travel all around the world without being harassed with lots of ads, credit card affiliates or anything of that kind. We’re sure that you are appreciating that, which is why we won’t change what traveluxblog is in 2018!
While we won’t change a lot, we’re abandoning two categories, which you might have gotten to know in 2017. First of all, that’s the looking back series. In 2016 and 2017, we released a new look back summing up all posts of a week, each and every week. However, the number of content pieces a week decreased quite a bit from 10 to 15 a week to only 4 to 7. That’s mainly due to time constraints on my part, but also because I want to put more effort in the pieces themselves. With fewer pieces, the need for summing up all the content isn’t all that important anymore as you can easily spot all posts right in the front page. Like that, all the guides and reviews we put a lot of effort in, remain in the spotlight for longer.
The other kind of posts you won’t see on traveluxblog in 2018 are our so-called “current whereabouts”. That’s all the little posts about the destinations we’re currently visiting and hotels we’re currently staying at. The decision for that change isn’t actually driven by the number of clicks, but rather by the fact that these posts take up some valuable time while travelling. In the future, we’d like to focus on the travel experience itself rather than spending a lot of time in front of the laptop while travelling. Like that, we hope to increase the quality and visibility (due to lower posts) of our extensive reviews and guides even more. At the same time, I’m very sorry for everyone of you who will miss these posts. However, you may want to follow traveluxblog on Instagram to always keep up to date on ongoing travel!
With the year coming to an end, we’d like to take the change to look back on the content you enjoyed the most here on traveluxblog! Once again, airline reviews have been read the most. So, this is the category I’ll start sharing the most succesful posts with you.
The most-read review in 2017 was the Etihad Airways long haul Economy Class Review, which is actually quite old, but is especially prominent for everyone coming here via Google!
Another evergreen is our Turkish Airlines long haul Economy Class Review, which you seemed to have enjoyed quite a lot in 2017, too!
The newest of our top reviews is the Qatar Airways long haul Economy Class Review, which we released in February 2017 and which since has gotten a lot of clicks!
When it comes to hotel reviews, Bangkok seemed to be your favorite. The first spot was taken by the Conrad Bangkok, which is an amazing property!
The second spot goes to one of the hottest hotels in New York City. I’m glad that you enjoyed the review of The Knickerbocker NYC as much as I did enjoy my stay!
The third place goes to another property in Bangkok. I wouldn’t really have expected the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok to get so much attention!
The most surprising results are actually the most-read lounge reviews in 2017. The winner here is the Aspire Lounge Zurich, an average Priority Pass Lounge in Switzerland.
The truly disappointing Cathay Pacific Lounge Tokyo Narita takes the spot as the runner-up.
Yet, the absolute oddball in this list definitely is the Sala Montana Roja Tenerife, which I would have never expected to be so popular!
When it comes to City Guides, interesting places made it to the first spots. First of all, there’s our City Guide featuring Jakarta in Indonesia!
Then there is a small, but very beautiful city in Europa. Would you have expected Wroclaw in Poland to be on such a high spot in our list?
One of my favorite cities in Southern Europe! You seem to like Porto in Portugal as much as I do!
Last but not least, we want to say thank you again. Thank you for being our readers, thank you for your feedback and thank you for recommending traveluxblog to others. We’ll continue to do our best to make your travel better. Through high quality airline, hotel and lounge reviews, city and transportation guides as well as specials! Have a great start in the new year. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back!
