Hotel Review: Conrad Istanbul

Conrad Istanbul Outdoor Pool

The Conrad Istanbul is the flagship property of Hilton in Istanbul. The luxury hotel offers a high level of comfort, but surprisingly small rooms. Check out this extensive hotel review to learn more about the property.

I’m a huge fan of the Conrad brand and I’ve stayed at nearly a dozen of the hotels yet. Among my experiences are the Conrad London, the Conrad Manila and the Conrad Cairo.

  • Classification: Five Stars
  • Room Category: Executive Room
  • Month of Stay: May

My stay in Istanbul was on a very similar level. My overall experience was very good, but there are still some weaknesses about the hotel.

Conrad Istanbul Exterior

For example, the check-in took ages and the upgraded Executive Room I got was basically a Standard Room on a higher floor with a mediocre view.

The Executive Room I was assigned wasn’t exactly spacious, but was alright for my needs. Due to the shape of the hotel, the rooms don’t have a typical design, but rather round-shaped. Upon entering, you’ll find the bathroom to the left and the wardrobe to the right.

Further into the room, you’ll find the King Bed to the left and the television as well as the working desk with a proper office chair on the opposite side. Right next to the window, there’s an additional armchair for lounging a bit.

While the room wasn’t spacious, I found the design to be very nice as it made the room feel cozy. The working desk comes with good equipment, the furniture feels high quality and there’s even a Nespresso coffee maker in the room.

The view of the Bosphorus Bridge in the background isn’t bad either.

The bathroom of the rooms at the Conrad Istanbul isn’t particularly spacious either. When entering, you can find the toilet to the left and the sink with a lot of storage to the right.

Further into the bathroom, there’s a walk-in shower with two shower heads and good shower pressure, while the bathub is provided right behind it.

Toiletries are provided by Armoatherapy and are plentiful.

The high quality marble in the bathroom did make it feel very high quality, more so than at the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti.

Executive Lounge at the Conrad Istanbul

As a full service property, the Conrad Istanbul also offers an Executive Lounge, which can be accessed by Hilton Diamond members and those booking an Executive Room and above.

Conrad Istanbul Executive Lounge

The lounge is located on the first floor and comes with various seating, a business center and a very nice terrace. Sadly, there are hardly any views and it tends to get a little loud.

Conrad Istanbul Executive Lounge

The food offerings in the afternoon are hardly anything special with just some whole fruits, some sweet desserts and the typical snack mixes.

The evening spread is way more substantial with plenty of cold and hot options. It’s not an extremely extensive spread and there are hardly any proper main dishes, but I liked the quality and selection. The drinks on offer are the typical wines, beers and spirits, all of medium quality.

In the morning, you may either enjoy breakfast here or in the restaurant. The breakfast spread in the lounge isn’t bad for what it is, but you can’t order freshly prepared eggs and the selection just isn’t as extensive as in the restaurant.

Nevertheless, I’d say that the lounge at the Conrad Istanbul is quite nice.

Breakfast at the Conrad Istanbul

After checking out the lounge, I decided to head to the restaurant for breakfast. Sadly, the restaurant was incredibly crowded and loud. That takes a bit away of the really great offerings here.

You can find basically everything from various vegetables, olives, tons of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, pastries, fruits and much more. All the things I tried were of great quality and I particularly loved the many local offerings.

As you’d expect there are several hot options, too. Some dishes, including omelettes, can be ordered at a station.

Conrad Istanbul Breakfast

All in all, an amazing breakfast spread. Sadly, the restaurant tends to get very crowded and thus very loud.

Pool & Gym at the Conrad Istanbul

Luckily, I had some time to check out the recreation facilities of the Conrad Istanbul during my stay at the property. Located below the ground floor, you can find a spacious gym with lots of equipment for cardio and strength training. The machines are modern, in a good condition and during my visit the gym felt very empty. Definitely an amazing gym for a workout.

Speaking of empty, the indoor Spa area with a steam bath, sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi and several loungers was totally deserted when I visited, too. The pool comes with a good temperature and the whole area is very comfortable to relax at.

That’s only beaten by the outdoor section, which comes with another massive swimming pool flanked by several loungers. It’s not only great for laps, but big enough to have several swimmers at the same time. While a little on the chilly side, I enjoyed it very much for swimming. There’s another jaccuzi here, too.

All in all, really great facilities if you are into swimming, recreation or sports.

Overall impressions of the Conrad Istanbul

The Conrad Istanbul left a very good impression on me. The rooms aren’t very big for a property of this caliber, but the design is beautiful and the furniture is high quality. There’s actually nothing I missed in my room and I enjoyed the recreation facilities, especially the pool and the gym, very much, too.

Conrad Istanbul Teddy

The offerings in the lounge and at breakfast are on a high level, too. The only downsides are somewhat mediocre service, the crowded breakfast and the room size. Nevertheless, I’d return to the Conrad Istanbul in a heartbeat.
