The Grand Hotel Beauvau Marseille is a boutique hotel in the city center of the French metropolis. The hotel is a member of the MGallery Collection by Accorhotels and offers a nice value for the money, in my opinion. Read why in this extensive hotel review!
When looking for a hotel in Marseille, I immediately recognized that there’s a very unique hotel, which still belongs to a chain.
Thus, I ended up booking the Grand Hotel Beauvau, which is located right on the harbor. As there was a very nice rate for a Duplex Suite with Breakfast available via accorhotels.com, I decided to splurge and outright book the suite for approximately 200 Euro per night.
Upon entering the Duplex Suite at the Grand Hotel Beauveau Marseille, you’ll find yourself in the living room, which is located on the lower floor.
Here, you can find a wooden working desk with a semi-comfortable chair as well as an interesting couch, which might double as a bed.
Opposite, there are two stools as well as a wooden chest, which has a minibar and a coffee machine. Both are complimentary, which I thought is a nice touch for suite bookings.
The real highlight of the room is obviously the small balcony, which is located on this floor. Here, you can enjoy a truly incredible view of the harbor. Wow!
Right next to the entrance door, you can also find a single toilet without a sink.
On the upper floor, you’ll find a large wardrobe as well as a Queen Bed with two nightstands as well as a flat-screen television on the opposite side. It’s also worth noting that there’s a roof window here.
Behind the bedroom, there’s another door leading into the bathroom, which has a sink, a toilet and a bathtub-shower combo.
The whole design of the room was a little bit too dated for my taste and also felt a bit miss-matched. Nevertheless, I thought that the suite at the Grand Hotel Beauvau Marseille was still very nice, especially thanks to the incredible views of the harbor.
In the morning, we had breakfast at the hotel, which is served in the small restaurant. It’s a rather tiny space with nice views of the harbor and modern interior. The choice at the breakfast buffet is alright, yet nothing to talk home about. There are the typical options like bread rolls, pastries, fruits, yogurts, cold cuts, cheeses, salmon and some veggies.
What I really loved was the small local buffet, which had very high quality specialties from the region.
Something I didn’t love is that there were hardly any hot options and also rarely any service. For example, you needed to take care of your coffee yourself.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the breakfast, especially due to the high quality of the food and the nice atmosphere.
In the evening, we ended up having our Le Club Accor welcome drink at the bar. While the bar was completely empty at first, a server showed up quickly after.
We ordered two glasses of a very nice white wine and also had a croque monsieur, which was very tasty.
All in all, a very nice spot for a drink in the evening.
The Grand Hotel Beauvau Marseille is a very charming hotel with a great location. While the design of our suite was a little too dated for my taste, I still enjoyed the room very much. The breakfast isn’t perfect, but is a decent enough start into the day. All that combined with friendly service makes the hotel worth recommending. However, the lack of facilities like a gym or pool is a little disappointing.
