Running in Alexandria is a really odd experience. The city doesn’t really boost any running areas, but there’s at least a decent enough promenade to run along. If you happen to be in town, this running guide will hopefully help you!
I’m relatively sure that only very few of you are in Alexandria on a regular basis, but if you are, doing sports outsides might not be the first thing that comes to your mind.
Nevertheless, I’d say that running in Alexandria is worth it and even if it’s just to see a bit of town. I was lucky enough to catch a day with great weather, but other than that there’s not too much great to say about the running conditions in Alexandria.

Let’s get right into it and you’ll see what I mean!
Running in Alexandria is an interesting experience for many reasons. First of all, the promenade looks like a really nice place for running, at least in theory.
Second, the condition of the promenade isn’t bad, but there are parts where you should be a little more careful despite this being one of the nicest areas in town.
Third, the mix between the beautiful scenery of the sea on the one side and the totally run down houses on the other side, makes you feel like you are in a movie of sorts.
It’s still a really interesting, but also somewhat strange experience. So be prepared, but when you are, I’m sure you can enjoy the experience!
It might sound a little odd, but if you are focusing on the right things, running in Alexandria actually feels a bit like being on holidays.
There are a couple of beaches along the promenade and then there are also areas, where the water is very close to you, allowing for a beautiful scenery.
Some of the photos I’ve taken on my run actually look really nice and make even the skyline look somewhat interesting next to the seafront.
Reality is somewhat different, but at least for a couple of minutes, running here makes you feel like you are at a nice beach destination.
Let’s be honest, running in Alexandria is a crazy experience. The pollution is a problem, despite being close to the sea, the noise is, too. The running conditions even on the nice promenade aren’t great and even at the spot where the Hilton Alexandria Corniche is located, the “skyline” is everything but nice.
On the other hand, there are these moments that make you think like running here is actually something cool to do, for example when getting to one of the beaches.
So to sum it up, experienced runners should definitely give running in Alexandria a try. It might not be for everyone, but for those of you who like exploring places by running, this is a great experience!
