Air Moldova is a small regional carrier with its base in Chisinau. The airline offers flights to cities in Eastern and Western Europe. In this review, I’ll explain what you can expect of flying in the Air Moldova Economy Class.
For a flight from Chisinau to Moscow, Air Moldova proofed to be the best choice, which is why I booked a flight with the airline I actually didn’t hear of before.
To my surprise, the experience on this early morning flight (departure at 6 am) was very good with the airline offering a better flight experience than airlines in Western Europe on board an Airbus A319 aircraft.
The Air Moldova Economy Class on board the Airbus A319 comes with the usual 3-3 configuration with rather thick leather seats.
While the cabin doesn’t look particularly modern, the seats are comfortable and offer a decent padding.
The seating is definitely more comfortable than what is offered by other airlines in Europe as Air Moldova doesn’t use the typical slim lime seats.
At the same time, the seat pitch feels a little tight. It’s not bad as for example with EasyJet oder Wizz Air, but it’s not great either.
That aside, I’d say that the seats are comfortable enough for the flights Air Moldova is operating (the longest flights are a mere three hours).
I wasn’t really sure what to expect in terms of catering when flying with Air Moldova. However, the airline once again made a positive impression on me as the catering is included in the flight fare. We were (I took this trip with colleagues) offered a small box, a tissue and a tooth pick.
The box just contained a sandwich, but this actually looked handmade and tasted very good. Compared to what’s offered on the likes of Lufthansa, the catering was actually great.
In addition to the free food, we were offered a selection of complimentary non-alcoholic drinks. All in all, a great catering for a regional flight in Economy Class.
The entertianment offerings in the Air Moldova Economy Class are far from ground breaking. The airline offers a board magazine with some articles in English and that’s about it.
There’s no WiFi, there are no TVs on board and there’s nothing else worth talking about in this regard. Thus, you should definitely bring you own entertianment to not get bored during the flight.
My flight in the Air Moldova Economy was quite enjoyable all around. The airline offers comfortable seats with an average seat pitch, surprisingly good catering, but no real entertainment. All in all, I can fully recommend flying with Air Moldova as we got to our destination safe, on time and comfortable.
