Hotel Review: Conrad Macao Cotai Central
The Conrad Macao Cotai Central is a luxury hotel on the Cotai Strip, which is the most important casino area in Macao. The luxury hotel offers a really nice experience, especially for Hilton Diamond members. Check out this extensive hotel review to learn more about the hotel!
Macao has an incredible amount of casinos and is very much comparable to Las Vegas in this regard. That’s something you’ll also recognize when looking at the pictures in this review. Nearly all hotels are designed in quite an opulent way and basically all hotels on the Cotai Strip have both, a casino and a shopping mall.
- Classification: Five Stars
- Room Category: Deluxe Suite
- Month of Stay: January
The Conrad, along with several other hotels, is connected by an incredible large shopping centre, which also has dozens of casinos.
Deluxe Suite at the Conrad Macao
The Conrad Macao is quite generous when it comes to upgrades for elite members. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was upgraded to a beautiful Deluxe Suite, which I appreciated. This suite is incredibly spacious and comes with a nice entrance area and then a spacious living room.
The living room comes with a really large couch with two coffee tables, facing a large flat-screen television. In the corner, there’s yet another armchair, making the living room of the Deluxe Suite a great place to meet up with friends.
The other side of the living room has a dining table with four chairs as well as a working desk with a comfortable enough chair. On the desk, a ‘Handy’ phone is waiting for you, which you can use complimentary during your stay with unlimited 4G data.
The bedroom isn’t any less luxurious and features a very comfortable King Bed with two large bedside tables. Opposite of the bed, there’s a drawer with a flat-screen television on it.
Then by the window, there are two further armchairs to put your clothes or just sit down on.
Both areas of the room have nice views of the surrounding casinos and the pools of the Conrad Macao.
There are also two bathrooms with the smaller bathroom being located right next to the entrance door. This bathroom just comes with a sink and a toilet.
The other, larger bathroom, is located right next to the bedroom. This one is really spacious with a double sink, lots of storage, a very nice bathtub, a separated toilet and a large walk-in shower with really good water pressure.
Generally, the bathroom feels very luxurious with lots of marble.
While a bit too opulent for my taste, I thought that the Deluxe Suite was not only a really nice upgrade, but also generally a nice room. There’s really nothing bad to say about it!
Executive Lounge of the Conrad Macao
Something that makes the experience at the Conrad Macao very nice is the Executive Lounge on the top floor. It’s a relatively private sanctuary in busy Macao.
Not only can you sit down and relax, but there are also various food and beverage options. To start the day, there’s a limited breakfast spread with the typical continental options as well as various hot options from the Western and Chinese cuisine.
In addition, you can ord egg dishes and other warm options from the menu.
If you happen to visit the lounge in the afternoon, there’s a nice selection of cakes and sandwiches. It’s not the best afternoon tea ever, but quite nice still.
Then in the evening, there’s a spread with various cold options like cold cuts, salads and such. In addition, there are varying hot options, which I’d rather call snacks than a full meal.
You may also indulge in the full bar available, including wines, beers and spirits. Even a limited selection of cocktails is available.
All in all, I’d say that the Executive Lounge of the Conrad Macao is really nice and a serious benefit to have!
Breakfast at the Conrad Macao
As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was offered breakfast in the Executive Lounge or the restaurant. On the second morning, we decided to head to the restaurant, which offers a really massive spread.
There are dozens of cold items from all kinds of cuisines, mainly Western.
The hot options are even more extensive with specialties from various Asian cuisines as well as continental favorites.
Surely, there are also a few stations, wehre you can order hot dishes, which are prepared to your liking. All in all, I’d say that the breakfast spread at he Conrad Macao is really good, maybe one of the best I’ve ever experienced!
Gym & Pool at the Conrad Macao
When at the Conrad Macao, you might find some time to use the hotel’s recreation facilities. As I got up pretty early our first days in Asia after our long haul flight from Europe, I ended up using the very big and well equipped gym every morning.
The gym has lots of equipment for basically any type of training you might think about. They have various weights, strength machines, cardio machines and even courses with a fixed schedule. So when it comes to sports, the Conrad Macao is a great choice!
What’s a bit odd though is that all swimming pools are located outside, which is a bit of an experience in winter as Macao tends to get a little cold. Thus, I hardly ever saw anybody use the various pools and jacuzzis.
I took the bite though and swam a bit in the one heated swimming pool and enjoyed the jacuzzi. There are also various loungers around the pools, so it’s a nice place to chill and relax for a bit.
All in all, I’d say that the Conrad Macao offers fairly nice recreation facilities, which help you to stay active and relaxed during your stay.
Overall impressions of the Conrad Macao
Especially compared to Hong Kong prices, Macao is a steel on most dates. That said, the Conrad Macao Cotai Central offers a brilliant value for the money. The hotel has a great status recognizition, very nice and opulent rooms with great bathrooms, a perfect location on the Cotai strip and an incredible breakfast as well as a good lounge. Service during our stay was really good though, way better than at the Conrad Hong Kong for example. All that combined with a nice gym make up for a nice experience staying here. Thus, I’d definitely recommend staying at the Conrad Macao!
