The Le Meridien Hamburg is a luxury hotel located right by the Alster in Hamburg. While I’ve stayed at many hotels in town, the Le Meridien is one of my favorites as you’ll read in this review!
Over the past years, I’ve stayed at various luxury hotels in Hamburg. The most expensive and exclusive one was the Fontenay Hamburg, which I’ll review at a later point.
However, there are several other hotels worth mentioning as well, including the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg, the Reichshof Hamburg and the Crowne Plaza Hamburg. None of these hotels really satisfied, while the Le Meridien Hamburg did. Just minutes away from Hamburg Main Station, the property left a very good impression on me!
For my stay at the Le Meridien Hamburg, I was assigned a Corner Room, which I immediately liked thanks to the two windows, which made the room very bright.
The interior as such was really nice, too. The room is separated into two areas, one with the wardrobe and one with the bed and everything else.
The bed as such didn’t only look very nice, but was also quite comfortable. As you’d expect, there are two nightstands, too.
Opposite of the bed, there’s a small bench with the flat-screen television right above. In the corner, there’s a nice reading chair with a coffee table.
On the wall, you can find a working desk, which comes with a comfortable turning chair.
The interior was not only all I needed for a regular business stay, but I also though that the rooms at the Le Meridien Hamburg are very beautifully designed! While this particular room lacked views, there are rooms with great views of the water available, too.
The bathroom of the Corner Room wasn’t spectacular, but alright. There’s a sink, a toilet and a walk-in shower.
The later is a little odd as it has sort of a round shape, which I haven’t see at any other hotel, yet.
All in all, I’d say that the rooms at this property are some of the nicest in Hamburg, really nice!
Another highlight of a stay at the Le Meridien Hamburg is breakfast, which is served in the restaurant on the highest floor. The views of the water are just amazing here.
Yet, that’s not all as the breakfast experience as such is really nice and feels very luxurious.
The buffet was all you need from typical continental options, including a really cheese and cold cuts selection as well as great bakery goods, to local specialties like shrimps.
Furthermore, there is an area with hot food on the buffet, which I very appreciated, too.
In addition, you can order eggs prepared to your liking. I had a very nice omelet, for example.
All in all, I’d say that breakfast at the Le Meridien Hamburg was really good, but what’s really amazing are the views. Those you can enjoy in the evening, too, by the way. I had a cocktail at the rooftop bar for example, which was great.
So, if you are looking for a nice bar or restaurant or bar, this might be an option, too!
When staying at the Le Meridien Hamburg, you enjoy complimentary access to the hotel’s recreation facilities. Thoes are including both, a pool and a gym. The latter sadly doesn’t have any daylight, but offers several cardio and a few strength machines as well as free weights.
The pool has a medium size and isn’t really suitable for swimming proper laps, but it’s better than nothing.
It’s also surrounded by several loungers. Right next to the pool, there’s a jacuzzi and you may also enjoy the hotel’s sauna.
All in all, a nice enough offering, which isn’t industry leading, but totally fine.
If you are looking for a really nice hotel in Hamburg with modern and spacious rooms, the Le Meridien Hamburg is the right property for you. The breakfast is very nice and offers incredibly beautiful views, the recreation facilities are alright and the service is a little distanced, but okay. All in all, I’d highly recommend staying at the Le Meridien Hamburg.
