The Singapore Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A380 has been industry leading when it was first introduced and it is again now that the product has been refreshed. In this extensive airline review, I’ll present you the new Singapore Airlines Business Class and I’ll explain why it’s so good!
I had the chance to fly a couple of incredible airlines in business and first class. I’ve also flown the Singapore Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A380 before, but with the old product.
Other favorites of mine include the Japan Airlines Business Class in the Boeing 787 and surely both, the Lufthansa First Class and the Swiss First Class. While not on that level, the new Singapore Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A380 is really phenomenal. Check out this review to learn what makes the new product so good and why I think that flying this Business Class nearly feels like First Class.
Obviously, the most important difference between the old and the new Singapore Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A380 is the seat. The new cabin looks really sleek and modern.
The seats look quite spacy as well as, especially thanks to the huge privacy shield on the aisle side.
Weirdly though, the privacy shield also extends to the other side on window seats, which means that your views are a little blocked, which I though was odd.
There are only different kinds of seats in this configuration of the Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Business Class. The middle seats are located close at one another, but there’s a massive privacy shield, which can be extended and makes you not see a thing of your neighboor anymore.
On the other hand, there are window seats, which I’d prefer when travelling alone as they offer even more privacy as well as the option to look out of the window.
The other main difference between the two types of seats is that middle seats have the console on the aisle side, while window seats have it on the window side and are thus closer to the aisle.
In general, I really loved the new seats in the Singapore Airlines Business Class as the design is really beautiful and doesn’t even make you feel like you are in an airplane. However, not only the design as such is really good, the new seats are also great when it comes to the seating comfort as they are really wide.
There’s also plenty of legroom, allowing you to easily stretch out without any issues.
Surely, the seats recline to various different lounging positions as the seats don’t have to be folded over anymore (which they had in the old product). I also enjoyed the large space right next to the seat, where you can put a laptop while dining, for example.
Storage is yet another interesting topic as there are really many storage compartments in the new Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Business Class. There’s a lot of space underneath the ottoman, a spacious shelf for literature right next to the seat as well as various further smaller storage places.
In addition, there are a few smart touches on the seat, including a foldable mini-table, where you can put smaller items, a tiny mirror or a nice reading light.
All in all, the seats in the new Singapore Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A380 are really phenomenal and one of the best Business Class products in the world, in my opinion.
I had the pleasure of enjoying the new Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Business Class on two flights, one from Singapore to Hongkong and one from London to Singapore. Thus, I had a lot of time to try the sleeping comfort. The bedding provided is excellent, as you’d expect.
The seats can be reclined into a fully flat position and there’s no need to ask the crew for help to do so. Nevertheless, they usually show about in seconds anyways to prepade your bed for you.
While the seat surface is relatively hard, there’s a sheet to make the bed feel a bit softer. Some might find the bed still too hard, but I thought it was quite comfortable.
On the second flight I even had the chance to try the double bed, which still isn’t really a proper double bed as there is a tiny and uncomfortable gap between the two ‘beds’, but it’s a really cool feature.
Especially on the longer flight, I slept really well, especially thanks to a really calm aircraft and cabin. Thus, I’d say that sleeping in the Singapore Airlines Business Class on the new Airbus A380 is really easy and comfortable.
As I’ve mentioned before, this review includes two flights in the new SQ Business Class. The first one from Singapore to Hongkong had just one meal service, which I’ll sum up briefly. The flight had a breakfast service, which started with fresh fruits.
It was accompanied by a choice of an extensive bread basket.
This was followed by a choice of yogurt or muesli.
Then I had one of three choices of a main dish, where I decided to try the Asian option, which was interesting, but good.
Let’s jump over to the more interseting catering on the longer flight in the new Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Business Class. As one the short segment, service started with a drink before take-off. Then after take-off there was another drink served alongside packaged nuts.
Interestingly, before dinner starts, there’s a Satay course on Singapore Airlines long haul flights.
The appetizer, ‘Smoked Tuna Nicoise Salad’ was served shortly after and was very tasty.
For the main, there were four options available. I had the ‘Deep Fried Pork in Vinegar Sauce’, which was nice.
Meanwhile, my companion had the ‘Seared Beef Filet with Madeira Sauce’, which she though was amazing.
Up next was a dessert course, which had two options. I went with the ‘Tartufo Nocciola’ – it was incredilbly good.
We are not at the end here as there was a cheese course following, which I skipped. Then there was a selection of fruits, but I passend. Instead, I was given a package of chocolates.
What a great meal and maybe one of the best lunch services I ever had in an airplane. The service was phenomenal as well. A good seven hours, the next meal service started, this time breakfast.
There was a large selection again, but as we’ve spoken about this meal earlier already, I’ll just briefly go through. Breakfast once again started with fruits and a selection from the bakery.
Then there were various other choices like yogurt or muesli, but I just went with the main dish next. This time I had the sweet option, ‘Apple Griddle Cakes’ – once again, it was great.
All in all, the meal services in the Singapore Airlines Business Class were phenomenal on both flights. This coupled with incredible service made up for an amazing experience.
Another area, where Singapore Airlines really shines, is entertainment. Passengers flying with Singapore Airlines can enjoy a wide selection of newspapers and magazines, which are handed out before departure. Plus, there’s a really interesting board magazine on every seat. Then there’s an amazing entertainment system, which comes with really crisp pictures and a very good selection in the new Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Business Class.
There are more than 100 shows, movies and music options each, so I’m sure you won’t get bored.
You may also play games, watch documentaries or just look at the air show.
Good noise cancelling headphones are offered, too. I don’t think that you’ll need to bring your own ones as the sound quality is quite good. In addition to the entertainment system, you may also use make use of WiFi when flying Singapore Airlines. The first 30 megabyte are complimentary for Business Class passengers, but after that, prices are quite steep as Singapore Airlines charges for data rather than time.
The WiFi worked quite well and basic work as well as messaging was possible without any issue.
All in all, I’d say that the entertainment options in the Singapore Airlines Business Class are great.
As it’s the norm for the Singapore Airlines Business Class, there were no amenity kits on my two flights. However, there were a few amenities like slippers or an eye mask placed at the seat for boarding.
Furthermore, there were many more amenities in the lavatories. You can also ask for other stuff, which you might need.
The toilets were kept very clean throughout the whole flight, so there’s nothing negative to say in that reagrd either.
While the amenities in the Singapore Airlines Business Class aren’t amazing, I didn’t miss anything.
Color me impressed! The new Singapore Airlines Business Class in the Airbus A380 is my favorite business class product so far. I didn’t have the chance to fly the revolutionary QSuites yet, but compared to all I know yet, Singapore Airlines wins by a long stretch. The cabins are beautiful, the seats are comfortable and private and also offer a lot of storage. The catering and service are phenomenal and catering is really good. All in all, a perfect flight experience!
