Lounge Review: American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong
The American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong is a small, but really nice lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. In this lounge review, we’ll explain what you can expect of visting the lounge!
While Centurion Lounges are quite a thing in the United States, the Hong Kong location is the first outside of North America. It’s relatively new and a really beautiful space, which can only be accessed by those holding an American Express Platinum Card or an American Express Centurion Card.
You can also bring at least one guest, sometimes more depending on which card you have and where it was issued.
Seating in the American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong
The American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong is not a particularly large space. The lounge mainly consists of one larger room.
This one is mainly separated in three different areas. Closest to the windows (the lounge is an atrium) are some armchairs with good views. There are also two televisions on both sides in this area. The next ‘row’ consists of just some dining tables with two chairs each. There are a few more tables directly next to the buffet.
Last but not least, there’s some high-top seating at the bar.
This whole area has really nice views of the airport and the tarmac and feels airy.
The Amex Centurion Lounge Hong Kong is really tiny, so you shouldn’t expect too much varied seating. However, it’s worth noting that close to reception there is another room, which has some seating on a comunal table.
Then there are two more seats somewhat in the hallway, which I thought are really odd.
Buffet of the American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong
In the corner of the main room, you can find a decent enough buffet. It’s not particularly big, but there’s a nice choice of different salad ingredients.
Then there are two soups, which looked quite good.
Furthermore, there were four different hot dishes, which I tried two of. Both were good, though far from outstanding.
Last but not least, there are a few desserts available.
In addition to the buffet, there’s a manned bar, where you can order cocktails, barista coffee and more.
To be honest, I had somewhat higher expectations of a Centurion Lounge when it comes to the buffet, but given the size of the lounge, the offers are alright.
Entertainment in the Amex Centurion Lounge Hong Kong
As we are speaking of a lounge of an American credit card company, the lounge is flooded with flat screen televisions showing news channels, mainly on mute. There is also a small business center, which has computers and a printer.
Furthermore, there are a couple of magazines and newspapers available, including international options. Other than that, there is not much more in the ways of entertainment.
Overall impressions of the American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong
While Amex Centurion Lounges in the US blow the competition out of the water, the situation in Hong Kong is different. The new Amex Lounge is modern, spacious and beautifully designed. At the same time, it’s a really small space with only few different seating, a mediocre buffet and alright entertainment. The nice views and the cool bar make the lounge a nice place to hang out, but I wouldn’t say that this one is an outstanding airport lounge.
