Airline Review: LOT regional Economy Class

The LOT regional Economy Class offers decent comfort without being amazing. In this extensive review, I’ll explain why flying with the Polish flag carrier is a nice experience nevertheless.

If you are looking for flights to Eastern Europe, LOT often offers convenient schedules, especially when departing from Western Europe. The LOT Economy Class is priced above low-cost-carriers, but at most times the cheapest options among legacy carriers.

  • Airplane: Embraer 175/190
  • Cabin Class: Economy
  • Daytime: various
  • Food: Snack
  • Seat Pitch: 30 Inch (76 Centimeter)
  • Seat Width: 17 Inch (49 Centimeter)

This is one reason I’m choosing the Star Alliance airline from time to time. The other reason is that I think that the comfort on board is quite nice as you’ll read in this extensive airline review.

Seating in the LOT regional Economy Class

The LOT Economy Class comes in seating arragnements of 2-2 or 3-3, depending on the type of aircraft. I happen to fly with Embraer aircraft all the time, which means that I’ll be reviewing the former here.

The seats in the regional Economy Class of the Polish flag carrier differ a bit and I think the Embraer seats are the most comfortable as they are relatively well padded and not as thin as other seats.

Additionally, flying in these aircraft has the advantage of no middle seats, which is a winner in Economy Class.

The seat pitch is quite tight, even for Economy Class. To my surprise, other eastern European airlines like Nordica or Air Moldova are quite a bit better in that regard.

Neverhteless, I’d say that seating in the LOT Economy Class is totally fine for regional flights, but the smaller aircraft might be a problem for taller people due to the rather small seat pitch.

Catering in the LOT regional Economy Class

LOT Polish Airlines has an interesting approach when it comes to catering. Water and a chocolate bar are always free of charge on domestic and international flights.

Then, everything else from other drinks to real food can be bought. There’s a nice enough menu with several different options.

I once tried a sandwhich, which I thought was not only good, but also surprisingly big.

Personally, I really like that approach to catering as it allows you to get a tiny snack and a glass of water without paying, plus some substantial options to buy at the same time.

Entertainment in the LOT regional Economy Class

The entertainment options in the LOT regional Economy Class are really limited. The only noteworthy aspect is a board magazine in English and Polish.

Other than that, there are no overhead monitors and there’s no WiFi either. That’s one area, where LOT could definitely improve.

Overall impressions of the LOT regional Economy Class

When it comes to flights to destinations in Eastern Europe, LOT often is my first choice as the airline is far superior to the likes of EasyJet or Wizz Air, while at the same time not much worse than Lufthansa or Austrian. Thus, if you find a good fare on LOT, I wouldn’t hesitate to jump on it as the airline offers a decent comfort, decent catering and a comfortable transfer experience in Warsaw.

  1. All that is fine, but LOT is unreliable. I don’t know how many delays/cancellations I’ve had or had colleagues/friends have in the last 2 years. I rather fly Easyjet where the worst thing that usually happens is a 2hr delay, not LOT’s cascading cancellations.
