The 5 Terres Hotel Barr is a boutique luxury hotel in the small wine village. In this extensive hotel review, I’ll explain why staying here is very enjoyable despite the fact that there’s not much to do around.
Barr is a really tiny place in the middle of Nowhere in the Alsace region. The next big city is Colmar, while Strasbourg isn’t that far away either.
You can get here by car or even by train, but I’d highly recommend taking a car as Barr itself is absolutely tiny and it’s better to be flexible to do something around. Nevertheless, the 5 Terres Hotel Barr is really charming and worth staying at!
I had booked my stay at the 5 Terres Hotel Barr through Accorhotels and got upgraded to a Deluxe Room thanks to my Le Club Accor Gold Status.
The room immediately made a good impression on me as it strikes a nice balance between historic charme and modern interior.
The key feature of the room, obviously, is the King Bed, which has a bench in front of it and two nightstands right next to it.
On the other side of the room, there’s a flat-screen television with a small working desk with a relatively comfortable chair beneath it.
There’s also a small sitting area with two armchairs and a coffee table on one side of the room, plus a fridge with two complimentary bottles of water on it.
The small welcome treatment, consisting of a bottle of local wine, was a nice touch, too.
The bathroom of the Deluxe Room at the 5 Terres Hotel Barr is rather tiny, but has a modern and stylish feel nevertheless.
There’s a single sink with lots of storage, which also has the toiletries.
The key feature of the bathroom definitely is the nice walk-in shower with a rain shower head.
The toilet is located in a separated room, as usual.
All in all, I thought that the room at the 5 Terres Hotel Barr was quite nice and definitely on the same level as the rooms in other MGallery hotels like the Hotel Molitor Paris.
While the 5 Terres Hotel Barr sadly doesn’t have a gym, there’s a nice spa in the basement.
The main feature is a small jacuzzi or pool of sorts, which is more about relaxing than about swimming due to its size and the temperature of the water.
The area also comes with a few loungers, a steam bath and a nice sauna.
What’s particularly cool about the spa area is that it feels so special thanks to being built into an old wine cellar. While properties like the Waldorf Astoria Versailles offer much more in regard to recreation, the area here at the 5 Terres Hotel Barr is just very special!
While I didn’t have the chance to dine or have breakfast at the 5 Terres Hotel Barr, I still immensly enjoyed the property. Barr is a really cute little village and the hotel offers a great location, a very nice room and a lovely little spa. You should be aware that this is a boutique hotel, so you shouldn’t expect all that many facilities, but that aside the property is absolutely worth recommending!
