The Conrad Tokyo is one of the most exclusive hotels in the capital of Japan. In this extensive hotel review, we’ll explain what you can expect of staying here and what we think about the value for the money!
Tokyo is not only a fascinating city, it’s also an incredible hotel market. There are dozens of different luxury hotels and all of them are usually quite highly priced. This is also true for the Conrad Tokyo, which saldomly can be booked for less than 500 Euro / US-Dollar per night.
Thus, I ended up using Hilton Honors Points for my stay. Thanks to my Hilton Honors Diamond Status I did not only get additional free breakfast, but also lounge access and an upgrade to a suite – not bad!
Getting a suite at a luxury hotel in Tokyo is absolutely incredible, but objectively, I didn’t love the suite at the Conrad Tokyo as it felt a bit cramped in the living room area.
There’s a large entrance area with a luggage room, which is always a plus.
However, the living room as such is rather small and comes with just a couch and a small table.
Furthermore, there’s a working desk closer to the window. I really liked the comfortable chair that came with it, so it’s definitely nice for working.
Speaking of nice, the views of the bay are really incredible and one of the main arguments for booking the Conrad Tokyo.
Another positive aspect of the suites at the Conrad Tokyo is the Nespresso coffee machine with lots of complimentary capsules.
There was also a really nice little welcome gift waiting for me in the room when I returned later that day.
While I thought that the living room wasn’t the highlight of the suite, I really liked the bedroom.
It’s as spacious as the living room and comes with an incredibly comfortable bed with two large nightstands.
Then there’s a very comfortable lounger right by the window with views of the bay.
While I personally loved the design at the Conrad Seoul and Conrad Hangzhou a tad more, the suite at the Conrad Tokyo was still really nice and definitely beats the design of older Conrad properties like the Conrad Hong Kong. This is also true for the bathroom.
First of all, it’s worth noting that there’s a small guest bathroom in the entrance area.
Then there’s the main bathroom next to the living room and it’s really nice with a double sink and lots of space.
There’s a really good shower with a rain shower head as well as a lovely bathtub, which is just great for enjoying a bath in the evening.
The toilet of the main bathroom is separated from the rest of the bathroom and offers privacy – obviously it’s a Japanese toilet.
All in all, I’d say that the suites at the Conrad Tokyo are really nice and particularly the views are a highlight. While I wouldn’t outright book the suite, it’s just an amazing upgrade!
Breakfast at this property is a real feast and definitely shows that this hotel has a particularly high standard. The breakfast buffet is really extensive and comes with various different stations.
There are dozens of cold options, including several very tasty Western options, including cheeses and cold cuts – something other hotels in Asia like the Conrad Koh Samui or the Conrad Bangkok don’t do so well.
The hot offerings are really good as well and there’s hardly anything you won’t find from Western to Asian options.
In particular, I enjoyed the several options you can order frehsly prepared, including pancakes or eggs benedict – very yummy!
I really loved the breakfast at the Conrad Tokyo and both, the buffet and the quality are really perfect. The service could hardly be any better as well.
While I’d say that the breakfast at the Conrad Tokyo is really phenomenal, I don’t think the same about the lounge, which is just good.
It’s spacious and consists of two rooms, both with nice views, but it tends to get really crowded.
Then the buffet spread also isn’t as extensive as for example at the Conrad Singapore and the Conrad Macao, in my opinion. The afternoon tea is quite good with various options, including scones and even ice cream – very nice.
Yet, the evening spread leaves a bit to be desired with just few cold and also not many hot options.
Sure, the quality is good and particularly the desserts are nice, but the spread at the Conrad Tokyo definitely is no dinner replacement.
It sure is still a nice buffet spread, but at a hotel with this price point I’d just expect a little more.
The Conrad Tokyo offers plenty of recreation options, including a gym and a pool. The latter is the real highlight of the property and just amazing for a city hotel.
It’s perfect for swimming laps and you can also enjoy incredible views of the city, while doing so.
Relaxing in one of the loungers is really amazing as well, so there are definitely just positive things to say about the pool at the Conrad Tokyo.
There’s also a sauna and a steam bath in the changing rooms.
Obviously, you can also find a well equipped gym.
This one, however, is a little small and while well equipped, can get quite a bit crowded.
Nevertheless, the recreation options at the Conrad Tokyo are just amazing and definitely something that makes this property so special!
I’ve stayed at many Conrad properties and I’d say that the Tokyo one is definitely one of the best. While it also has the coresponding price point, I enjoyed it more than the Conrad London, for example. If you happen to visit Tokyo and look for a great option, I’d definitely recommend staying here. Personally ,I’d definitely stay here over other hotels in Tokyo I stayed at before, including the Hilton Tokyo Odaiba, the InterContinental ANA Tokyo and The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo.
